    I agree with the author that corn is poor food staple, and I would prefer that all chickens, cattle, and turkeys were range fed (even though they don't taste as good, the meat is leaner so it's better for you), and I agree that corn syrup is something that should be avoided - but let's get real, the days of vast over-production of agriculture are coming to a close. The overall wealth of the planet is growing, and the bulk of the population prefers to eat a diet with a lot of meat in it. If we did away with the feedlots, cattle and especially chicken production would decrease and prices would rise. The meat available would be of better quality, but it would cost more, so poorer people's diets would have less protein and more carbohydrates. The wealthy would eat healthier, not so for the poor - so I don't see how this makes a difference.
