Samsung spending $$$ on promoting their phones, some people will take the bait - how long does the battery last for when the phone needs a quad core processor?
Aren't people being over-optimistic about Googles chances in the music / video market? Many android phones are budget priced to appeal to those people who can't afford more expensive handsets. Equating handset sales with potential music sales may work for iphones, perhaps not necessarily android phones.
What happens to Googles share price in the event that google glass either does very well or sells poorly? Would expectations for the share price be based as much on product marketing as on product implementation and user experiences?
What's the minimum runtime a Glass headset needs to get from a fully charged battery to be useful? Consider that perhaps 2 hours will probably be the duration of a shopping trip to buy something you'd tell everyone about, 4 hours for a visit to a museum or all day for a visit to an amusement park. Smartphones with GPS and cellular data enabled probably won't last more than a day and that's with a battery 3 x 3 x .5 cm - enormous compared to Glass.

What happens to the share price when google Glass / Fibre / self-driving cars turn out to be things that can't make a meaningful profit? Pilot projects or technology demos can't always translate into real-world profits. While Glass can be a potential platform for their advertising and data gathering what will users expect from the product? I doubt something which shows adverts for their $1500.

Googles mistake is in limiting google now to android handsets running JellyBean and above. Even some recent mid-range handsets can't be upgraded to JellyBean, Sony advise users that upgrading from Gingerbread may degrade performance (xperia-sola)
Google (GOOG -0.6%) roundup:1) Elon Musk says Tesla (TSLA) is talking with Google about using its self-driving tech. But he views it as the equivalent of a plane's autopilot mode rather than a total replacement for human control, and criticizes the cost of Google's sensor system - Musk says Tesla will likely develop a cheaper camera-based system. 2) ChannelAdvisor reports same-store sales for clients via search ads rose only 2.3% Y/Y in April. Sales via shopping engines (such as Google Shopping) rose 6.1%. 3) TheStreet's Anton Wahlman points out Google Glass could see strong commercial uptake. Soldiers, emergency personnel, and retail industry workers are named as potential users. [View news story]
Uptake depends on the runtime of Glass headsets. Who will use them if they need recharging after 3 hours?

Perhaps Googles "Enhanced Campaigns" project will be better than their current efforts which seem to have limited effectiveness. Even with feedback from my use of youtube the clickthrough rate is zero. Adverts on video or streaming services are so poorly written they don't engage with me at all. An informative and entertaining advert lasting 10 seconds on youtube is going to be of more interest and will have finished before I can click on "skip advert" compared to a mundane 30 second ad promoting something I don't want or need.

Samsung Electronics (SSNLF.PK) says its Q1 profit rose 42% to a record high on strong smartphone sales. Net profit rose to a record KRW7.15T ($6.4B), up from KRW5.05T a year earlier. Operating profit rose 54% to KRW8.8T from KRW5.7T. Sales rose 16.8% to KRW52.9T from KRW45.3T, coming in in line with the company's guidance of KRW51T to KRW53T. The results stand in stark contrast those of Apple (AAPL), which earlier this week reported its first profit drop in a decade and forecast margins to decline in the current quarter ending in June. Perhaps the samsung / android fans should consider just how bad android apps can be when trying to promote samsung hardware - skype for android http://bit.ly/YbFf6B for example. Skype ought to be a must-have app, works fine on apple but is awful on android. When I replace my cheap android handset it's likely to be an ex-contract iphone4 - no viruses or problems with "insufficient memory to install app" errors when theres an 8gb memory card.

You say the iphone 5 is Apples first sales dud. Any idea what would reduce sales? Technical problems, quality control issues or customer perception that it's not as trendy as Samsung ?

Would your company pay someone 3% per share dividend on all shares or 1.5% interest on a loan for the same value as those shares? That's what I think the buyback's about, if it increases the share price I see it as a bonus - manipulating the price of the shares wouldn't be limited to the fallout from automated trades.

Comparing Google with Apple is obviously inappropriate - Google is an advertising company relying on users interest in the adverts they're shown. What they're also relying on is users goodwill in accepting on-screen advertisements in exchange for services. At what point do the adverts become so intrusive users go elsewhere? You've spent $1,500 on Google Glass, are you happy to have adverts (most likely irrelevant?) on the tiny screen?

quote " if it is a quality mutual fund... who cares if there is a small expense ratio (keep it to under 1.5% " - anyone who's invested in ETFs would regard 1.5% as a lot. Expense ratios for most are between 0.3% up to 0.8%. Ishares S&P500 value ETF http://bit.ly/YRNUGi charges 0.18%. I've got a few apple shares but have most of my money invested in ETFs or REITs. (the ETFs offer plenty of scope for diversification, and REITs for dividend income)
