  • Nokia and Qualcomm Battle It Out For 3G Dominance (NOK, QCOM)  [View article]
    Dear Eugene Bukoveczky,

I can't say that I'm an expert on this field but have you considered the possibility that given the recent signals (bailout from Sanyo JV and focus to GSM&3G) Nokia might actually want the Qualcom technology to crash through "nuclear war". I suppose it would be easy to imagine that if there will be fierce legal action and unclear future about this CDMA2000 technology many operators might see the technology as too risky.

Also I think it's clear that CDMA2000 technology holds the same technological drawbacks related to mass customization as the orginal CDMA which has to my knoledge been largely unprofitable business to which all handsets have to be customized for each operator.

Would it make sense that Nokia would want to kill the technology, in which it isn't very strong and thereby support it's position as global leader in mobility?

    BR,
