I've recently taken a serious interest in becoming a value/dividend investor. But I may also be looking for one or two young companies that haven't yet had their breakout moment. I view stocks and bonds from a very traditional standpoint, the old values aren't dead. I know a lot of people lost a lot of money the past few years because they forgot what we already knew, buy good companies with solid financials and a good story and you will do well. I am in my 30's so I still believe in taking some risks. I do a lot of research before I buy, and once I buy it's because I believe in the sector and the company. Right now I plan to focus primarily on energy and real estate. Yields are very good and both have positive long-term outlooks (in my opinion). I know people say health care is a growing field and maybe some day I'll be open to it, but for now I'm sticking to what I really understand.
