If we can abandon gold standard, we can also adopt gold standard back. You just can't expect the gov't to behave in a certain way. Case in point, look how much money we are pumping into the bailouts. I am not disagreeing with you that one should not trade gold such as GLD or GDX. I am just saying that just be careful when buying gold bullion or coins.
