  • S&P 500: Do Not Buy This Dip [View article]
That's a level headed way of looking at it. And the stimulus would be but one contributory factor in that. But nobody really knows what the long term affect of all of this is going to have with any certainty.

"Shore up it's balance sheet". I don't know who can be credited for that comment, but it is spot on. Good news.

  • AT&T Is Still Trying To Please Its Investors Too Much [View article]
You are right alschroed. It costs companies money to issue new stock. T will not do that. Not when they are sitting on a ton of treasury stock that can be used for compensation or distributed to ESOP making a separate adjustment to equity. That payout ratio here is based on earnings also. T pays their divs from cash flows. More precisely, investing activities. It's on their cash flow statement. I question companies financials when they announce that they beat by a penny, but T could probably smooth over their numbers indefinitely simply because they are a serial aquirer. That is fine by me as long as I can continue to receive those healthy divs.

  • Prospect Capital Corp.'s Dividend Sustainability Analysis (Post Fiscal Q4 2013 Earnings) - Part 2 [View article]
I did also. It's similar to perusing financial statements. If there are 60+ pages of footnotes, then the financial statements will not tell you too much, you have to go digging and sifting through the footnotes. A mining expedition. That was done for us here.

  • AT&T promises to match Google Fiber in Austin; details remain vague [View news story]
It would be reasonable to assess that T would structure their prices competitively. If someone is not satisfied with the standard 300Mbps that they can get with T right now, perhaps they could choose to go with the free 5Mbps that Google has to offer, bandwidth and all, and spring for the $70.00 per month if they really want the 1Gbps. As for the investing side of this, T has been around for a while. As a component of the Dow, it has never fallen below the top ten in yield.

Robert Allan Schwartz, I recall a link you offered up to readers in another article. An impressive list of choices for issues offering divs and what they paid and for how long they had been paying. Much info, very impressive and a lot of work went into that. I saved it. I consider it of great value. Thanks very much. I believe you wrote that program yourself.

Giorgio, Investing or trading, I think Gratian summed it all up pretty well. Take that gift-horse before it disappears. By the time tax season comes around, you will reflect upon that with fond memories.

  • Tesla: Be Ready For A Massive Crash [View article]
So you did graduate. I can't quite recall if it was in math or not, but congrats on that anyway. An unusual sidestep here with your take on the auto industry instead of high tech, but I'm in full agreement with Tas, as this is not for the faint of heart. A pure spec play and the classic bubble.
