  • Verasun Energy: Thin Margin Co's Are One Bad Economic Turn Away from Disaster [View article]
Don Endres should be fired. The timing of this filing is suspicious. (Why one day before the Presidential election?)

  • Ethanol's Short-Term Bottom [View article]
My 12-month target price is $6 a share. Why do the oil companies want ethanol companies to got to .04 a share? Maybe so that they can buy them? Despite the oil companies predictions (or fantasies), ethanol is not going away anytime soon. See this article, about how very soon congress is going to mandate that higher blends of ethanol be added to every gallon of gasoline sold in the US. www.dtnethanolcenter.c...

  • VeraSun Plant Closing Results in Slashed Analyst Estimates [View article]
Why do these ethanol bears always understate the positives? Yesterday at one point VSE was up over 80% at 1.35. Why does this article say VSE topped at .91? A temporary shuttering of a plant in poor economic conditions is nothing new for the energy industry. This happens all of the time when oil refineries get shuttered and it actually drives up prices when oil production slows down. It is so comical to watch this stock swing from .72 to 1.35 in one day, because you KNOW a bunch of scared amateur investors who have no idea what they are doing are loosing their shirts. What a great time to buy, and get in on the ground floor of the largest ethanol company in the world! Disclosure: I am long on VSE.

  • Sign of the Times: Ethanol Boom Goes Bust, Utilities, Energy and Consumer Staples Hit Hard [View article]
Hey Jessica, you failed to mention that all of these stocks have only seen these considerable swings in conjunction with the downturn of the rest of the economy. In fact, if you look at VSE, AVR, and PEIX the day of and day after the rest of the economy went bust, all of these stocks considerably overperformed relative to the DOW, S + P and NASDAQ averages. Currently they are falling with the price of gas, but this is another commodities bounce and these stocks will be up again by election time. The important number is the crush spread, which is very good right now because of the fall in corn prices relative to the price of ethanol. Hardly a "bust." Disclosure? Short?

  • Ethanol Will Become a Fad Without Government Intervention [View article]
My lady doth protest too much. All of the negative propaganda coming from the oil companies against ethanol shows that it must not be a passing fad, and ethanol must be cutting in to the profits of the oil companies pretty badly for them to cause such a fuss (notice most of the noise is coming from Texas! ...hmmm). All of this is to whitewash the fact that it is the price of oil that is driving up food costs, not ethanol. How about we cut subsidies to oil companies instead?
