  • GM halts Chevrolet Cruze sales at many dealers [View news story]
There have been so many years of *perceived* problems with America cars that the industry starts out with two strikes against it, in terms of resurrecting its reputation. Even if every car they built was of flawless quality, it would still take a few years for Americans to trust the Big 3 again, let alone believe that "Detroit" makes superior products.

Labor problems, recalls, bankruptcies, exploding gas tanks, faulty ignition switches.....on and on. Now dealer squabbles are starting to surface.

That makes it real tough to gain a buyer's confidence.

  • A warning on U.S. vehicle inventories [View news story]
While domestic sales increases have no doubt helped Ford, it's important to consider that Ford is an international company with very profitable operations in Canada, Europe, Latin America and most especially China. Ford is expanding in India. With around $130B in sales, more than 51% of profits are coming from overseas.

If this kind of news scares people off, they have no business investing to begin with. I rate Ford very highly as a long term investment and I think it's a great time to invest in it. I bought a block of F shares yesterday.

  • Delta Air Lines' CEO Hosts Annual Investor Day (Transcript) [View article]
Quite a turnaround for a company that, among others in the airline business, was looking pretty grim just a few years ago. For the first time, I may jump in a buy some of their stock, a segment of business I've always been historically skeptical of.

Curved glass an improvement? I just don't get it, I guess. Are they ascribing problems to me that don't exist? Touch accuracy has never been a problem for me.

  • Here's What General Electric's Big Bet On Crowdfunding Looks Like [View article]
GE has plenty of cash (and expertise) to play in the crowdfunding sandbox, I suppose, but for the rest of us monkeys to throw in without any kind of regulation? Well, you might as well be investing in a salted gold mine.
