The CMBS market is dead for the time being, Lenders are few and far between for commercial loans.
It appears many, many REITs will not be able to roll over their debt in 2009-2010. They will have to declare bankruptcy, and shareholders may be wiped out.

This is not exactly a choice. The US regulators prohibit any bank from acquiring more than 10% of banking deposits. BAC is up against the limit.
