  • mREITs Have Bottomed: Why Investors Should Consider This Dividend King [View article]
WMC rewarded me with the $2.35 special dividend at the end of 2013. I have liquidated my entire position right before they did the secondary offering (plain luck by following my gut feeling). Now I am back at the right price. Excellent management team. Long WMC. Huge position.

  • Raymond James: If you like Linn Energy, you should love LinnCo [View news story]
I have communicated directly with investor relations of LNCO and it does report distributions as return of capital. But the percentage return of capital will depend on their accounting that they report around February.

  • Strong Performance Makes Seadrill An Interesting Pick [View article]
A 2.5% increase for $37.50 is $38.44, which SDRL achieved yesterday. Dividend is over 10% at my purchase price.

AAPL only went up 1.82% yesterday. The $635.38 closing price seemed really high but quite deceiving, compared to the lower SDRL stock price and appreciation. Apple's dividend is peanuts compared to SDRL's dividend.

This sounds like the hare and the turtle race.

I will go with the turle (smaller stock price, faster appreciation and higher dividend price.) I am not a rocket scientist but this is a "no-brainer". In fact I loaded up on SDRL pre-market today since it dipped by over 2%. I sold all my AAPL yesterday at $636.70. Maybe I will catch AAPL on the dip and use it to day-trade. It actually is a predictable stock to day-trade all day long...

  • Seadrill EPS of $6.23 [View news story]
Let's listen to the Earnings Conference Call of NADL this morning. Maybe we will see the light. My hunch is, NADL will fly and along with it -- SDRL. Smart, smart move for SDRL.

  • Why Buying Beats Audio Is A Good Deal For Apple [View article]
Beats may not have the best headphones but it sure has the right people to promote the music streaming business. Apple die-hards, including my two children who are in their 20's sure will be easy converts to "iBeats" streaming. Right now my son is paying $10/month for Spotify. It will be a no-brainer for him and his friends to convert to "iBeats" as soon as it is in place for the same $10/month.
How many subscribe to Pandora and Spotify combined? Apple will get a good chunk of that market share. So the 3.2 billion dollarrs that Apple is paying for Beats will be paid back in a few months of music streaming. I think Tim Cook is a genius. I never owned Apple shares before but now I am buying as much as I can.

  • Video appears to confirm Apple-Beats; Iovine reportedly set to join Apple [View news story]
It is not about the headphones. It is really about the streaming! $10/month to compete with Spotify. That's a lot of revenue.

  • Apple: Yes To iBeats And Yes To Paid Music Streaming [View article]
Thank you for this info. My son is 28, an iPhone and Mac "diehard". He pays $10/month for Spotify. There is no doubt that he will be a 'no-brainer' iBeats convert for $10.
I am going to buy more Apple tomorrow.

  • Zuck: Facebook unbundling apps, wants "a pipeline of experiences" [View news story]
I am a real "greenhorn", but I have noticed in the few equities which I have been following that those that beat their earnings prediction showed quite a dip prior to earnings announcement (i.e,. MU, SNDK) while those that did not beat their earnings prediction (i.e., T, SYMC, AMD, GOOGL) had quite a remarkable upswing prior to earnings report. Is there a method to this "madness"?

  • Western Asset Mortgage Q4 Changes And Outlook [View article]
I can see that you are very smart and highly analytical. I could not put my thoughts into words because I do not know how to analyze real figures, but I know that something must be up. I sold most of my huge position when prices went above $16.40, before x-dividend date. The rest I sold right on x-dividend date and shortly thereafter. A few days later, I saw the ticker drop to $14.80 after-market. Glad I listened to my instincts -- of course taking into consideration what has been going on in the last 6 months. Now, I am back in the $14.60/share average range and will stay optimistic.

  • Mortgage REITs a port in the storm today [View news story]
I had a gut feeling about this considering all that has happened, so I got out totally just a few days before I saw the ticker down to $14+. Thanks to my strong instincts - which I usually follow. Of course I bought back in.
