According to a front-page article in today's New York Times, the lack of success of the government's program to ward off foreclosures is because mortgage companies are reluctant to give strapped homeowners a break and forfeit the lucrative fees they collect on delinquent loans.

Yeah that's why the government's plan isn't working. The New York Times said it so it must be true!
