New York Times: Revenue Plummets, Debt Is Junk [View article]
The New York Times is a radical leftist propaganda rag that deserves everything it's getting. The world will be a better place when it finally goes belly up.
Visa's First Annual Shareholder Meeting a Non-Event [View article]
I got hammered on Visa having bought quite a bit of it in early May. But my losses are only on paper as I haven't yet sold any. It will come back over time. I just wish I could buy more right now, but I really can't. A while back I read that Visa was planning a big buyback in October. Doing so real soon would show potential investors confidence in Visa. I believe that too many investors are spooked because of all the credit defaults etc... but Visa doesn't issue or take on the risks involved with credit. I can't say that often enough because I still read well intentioned bad advice on Visa and Master Card by "analysts" who lump Visa and MC in with Discover and American Express. Two weeks ago someone authored an article on a blog writing that Visa was gonna lose a fortune because of people defaulting on their credit cards. Fortunately, someone wrote back rather quickly that Visa doesn't assume credit risk and the author acknowledged his error. I still have to wonder how many other articles are out there categorizing V and MC with D and AE.
The time has come for Visa and Master Card to use some of their advertising dollars to promote their stocks to investors just as they promote their cards to consumers. And they should start by telling potential investors they don't take on credit risk, the banks do. I think their problem is misinformation and misunderstandings more so than the economy.
Visa to Develop Applications for Android and Nokia Phones [View article]
Visa is great at developing new features to make Visa more attractive. Now if they would just get out there and promote the fact that they are not a "financial" stock. There is no risk for Visa when cardholders make purchases or use Visa as a debit card. They don't extend credit. They make money every time someone makes a transaction. This stock is tanking while Visa is making a ton of money. What they need to do now while banks are merging or closing is spend some money to tell people how safe Visa is an investment. Visa has been labeled "financial". Financials are risky investments. Visa needs to spend some money by promoting what they really are if they want their stock to go up.
Robert, I know where you're coming from with the 8% and out. That rule, which is your rule for yourself only, should have exceptions like everything else. In the case of Visa an 8% drop should be looked upon as a buying opportunity, not a time to sell and run.
Visa is a "can't lose" company if you're willing to ride it out. The company has no risk from defaults because they don't extend credit. The banks take the risk. All Visa does is act as the "toll collector". Most people pay bills or make purchases with their debit/credit cards. It took me almost six years to burn through a box of 200 checks because of my Visa debit card. I made a car payment online today using my Visa debit card. On almost all online purchases I use my Visa credit card for extra protection. Plastic has replaced cash in so many aspects of our lives. That's why I say that there should be good common sense exceptions to the 8% rule. In the case of Visa, you're gonna be kicking yourself in another year for getting out so soon. Right now is a good time to get back in. During a slow economy we need to put our money somewhere. Energy stocks are a good bet when the company is government subsidized. But for something with a real value that can stand on its own it doesn't get any better than Visa.
Oil Prices Fall on Saudi Announcement [View article]
The radical envios have been wrong on everything. Their only goal is to bring America to its knees. They fought the Alaska pipeline claiming it would kill off the caribou which numbered 3,000. Now there are over 32,000 caribou. The caribou it turns out like the pipeline, they use it to keep warm. Who would have thunk it. Cold animals looking for warmth.
Jackooo makes it clear the true agenda of the radical envios. Telling us to cut driving and buy smaller cars. How about a ban on electric blankets and a constitutional amendment requiring people to huddle for warmth. What killing Indians in early American history has to do with the price of oil. If we double our oil and opec cuts production to match our new output would keep prices the same. Unless of course using the oil drilled in America for America. duh
If the Democrats and the radical envios really cared about the environment they would be making a stink out of China drilling 60 miles from Key West on behalf of Cuba. But they're not because their real agenda is about big government taking over our lives and taking away our freedom. The radical envios would never let Exxon Mobil get away with drilling that close to Key West. The only way the radicals would allow it would be if the U.S., outsourced the work to China or another commie country.
Thanks to all the leftists for illustrating how they want the government to run our lives.
Trust me folks. Everything V Winner has said so far about Visa has come true. I bought a large portion of my Visa holdings at $86 and didn't bat an eye when it dropped. If I had more money to spare I would buy it up on every drop. I personally don't expect this stck to close below $80 ever again. If it does I will pour more money into it that I've been saving for other things. I believe that by the end of summer I lot of people will be cursing at themselves for not buying at the bargain basement price of $100.
In the meantime I am heading over to this place for a while: visawinners.blogspot.c...

Thank you V Winner. The haters don't bother me, they're everywhere. Off Topic: V Winner, if you're near a tv tonight there's a special about Brazil on CNBC at 9PM. I saw a preview and it's really interesting. It's about Brazil becoming a farming superpower farming on lands that weren't fertile a few years ago. As a result, many people are moving out of poverty into the middle class. I vacationed there about 18 years ago two times and the people everywhere were so nice, but poverty was everywhere. It's good to see nice things happening to really nice people.

V Winner, keep up the great work you're doing here. The drop today actually made me feel better because something has to give from time to time and it makes for a good buying opportunity. I have 1,000 shares and I'm in it for the long haul.

V Winner, You called that dip. You said it was gonna happen real soon and it did. You also said that would be the time to buy. And when I didn't listen and bought it at $86 and change you told me not worry it will come back, which made me feel a lot better, and it's doing that right now.

Ted, I like your optimism and I also think it will touch $90 this week. V Winner, thank you for spreading your knowledge around. You've been a big help to me and many others. Meow, I also want to thank you for the encouraging words after I bought 800 more shares and the stock dipped. Because of you and all of the other fine people around here I am having a great time watching this stock grow grow grow.

V Winner, thanks for all of your great advice. And thank you for replying to 'learnin' because he/she asked they very same question that was on my mind. A few weeks ago I bought 200 shares at around $65. thinking a few days ago that I should have bought more but it's too late now. Well, based on what I've been reading from you and others "V" is still a bargain and I'm gonna buy a few hundred more. Thank you so much.
