  • Why I Am Bearish Homebuilders [View article]
Peter the market has proven you wrong. Look at PHM and LEN's results, rising prices, rising community demand, financing looks favourable, we are in a seasonal strong period for homebuilders...it's not too late for you to capitulate on your short, go long and make a few extra dollars.

  • Bristol-Myers Squibb: Valuation Dependent On Pipeline [View article]
    Hi Tom,
Can you explain to me how you do valuation for this stock? You mention using a 15% R&D cost figure and a 5% dividend yield to compute a $40 stock price. Can you outline your computations for me please? I would greatly appreciate it.

Secondly, have you done any work on comparing the stock's R&D ratio and its dividend yield to comparable stocks in the rest of the pharmaceutical space? (e.g. MRK, PFE)

    Thanks so much

  • Why Infosys And Cognizant Are Buys Here Despite Downgrades And Negative Chatter [View article]
    Hi Jay,
You haven't addressed this in your article, but it is a very important point and the reason the stock traded down 5% today. The big elephant is US immigration reform. What are your views on the downside to the shares if immigration reform in the US is passed as is currently proposed by a bipartisan group of senators?

Thank you. So, what I'm hearing is: Wait until they report a miss, stock tanks, then be an opportunistic buyer.

Guidance was revised downward in Q4 and they still missed. What gives you confidence that they won't miss again?

  • Profit From Obamacare With Amerigroup [View article]
    Deborah.
If AGP were truly a way to play Obamacare, WLP's shares would have skyrocketed after President Obama got re-elected. Instead, the shares have traded down from 63 to 55. You say that managed care insurance companies will benefit from the law. Really? The market certainly doesn't think so. Let's take a closer look at the space. Humana - post-election drift - down from 76 to 66 and still ticking lower. United Health Group - down from 56 to 53. Aetna - down from 44.5 to 42.You're right about Cigna outperforming, but you're wrong about the reason. Cigna isn't outperforming because "insurance companies will profit." Cignas is outperforming because it's INSULATED from the effects of Obamacare through its international exposure in healthcare IT consulting AND its limited exposure to government run Medicare programs. Because of this fundamentally different business model and payor mix, the street is willing to give the shares a free pass.

You're right about the hospitals, but you're too late. If you had published your article on Nov 6, this article would have at least been of some use.

    Do your homework.

  • 'Tenet-ative' Times For One Of The Largest U.S. Health Providers [View article]
The author of this article predicates a number of his arguments on the assumption of a Romney presidential victory. I would not be holding my breath anytime soon for that to occur. This is a desperate man in a desperate situation whose campaign, I believe, we are witnessing the beginning of an end to. An Obama re-election, on the other hand, would tremendously benefit THC. The stock has not fully priced in an Obama victory. So far, it is clear that the +5-6% jumps in the stock are correlated to days on which Romney has made damning political errors in judgment, such as his ill conceived comments about the "47%".

  • Dimon on CIO activities: JPM has suffered a $2B loss in the synthetic credit portfolio. "The strategy was flawed ... There were many errors, sloppiness, and bad judgment ... risk managers are fully engaged in helping to monitor the current portfolio." He goes on to say volatility could remain high over coming quarters and could cost the bank another $1B.  [View news story]
