  • Apple Will Soar After Solving This One Problem  [View article]
I used to think like you do but it's the truth. Windows has the right approach for "Pro" level tablets. Just not good enough to have mobile OS onboard for most tech professionals.

Having said that, you are correct about the Surface sales numbers but that's only reflective of Microsoft's poor execution and millions of scorned previous PC heads "never going back".

It's just presents a tremendous opportunity for Apple. If Tim Cook's Apple history is anything to go by, they will show up with what everyone wants 2-3 years after the demand is exploding, they will indeed get it all right and dominate with the eventual polished device release, however; in the mean time make investors doubt Apple to the point where the "Steve Jobs would be rolling in his grave" metaphors come out due to frustration with the lengthy time line Mr. Cook seems far too comfortable with.

Whenever I read a comment like Adrew A's I wonder, "just what the hell does everyone else do on a computer?" How can you say this device will replace a computer for you?

I'm a huge apple fan and have loads of their products but there is just no way any sized iPad is replacing the machine I earn my money with. Unless I can install the Adobe Creative Suite I simply can not do any of the things I get paid to do on an iPad, no matter how HUGE the screen gets.

I actually agree with this article. They should have pushed the iPad down the Windows Surface route if they ever intended to replace computers with it. The only thing stopping that transition is the fact that Apple has a huge revenue stream from iMacs and MacBooks so they don't want to kill their own revenue streams.

I do however see them eventually going all in on the iPad and making it have a full blown OS that has a blend of iOS and MacOS where we can install all "desktop" software and never look back.

When this happens the stock will have a new lease on life and will reach new highs, and because of this, the author is correct. I know i'd gladly use a real "PRO" iPad and hook it up to a cinema display instead of buying iMacs every 5 years or so if it were possible. Today it's not possible and for this reason, the stock is not excelling like we want it to.

  • Why Investors Should Second-Guess Apple  [View article]
Glad that you have learned over the years why people hate click bait. That's a turn in the right direction for you. Yes, people like reading things that make them think and debate. This article is again, not one of them.

i just wish you'd put some more meat and potatoes in your writing...

I feel at the end you are about to make a point about stopping riding the Pandora wave as if you know details about Apple's music streaming service gaining traction and taking away from Pandora's hopes of becoming a cash generator. But no sir, no real point was made there either...

What is there to think about or debate with your article?

I think the click bait title is what is throwing people off here...

Might not want to do that and quickly jump on commenters that haven't read every word of your precious, precious article.

  • Cook defends 5C's pricing, analysts set weekend iPhone targets  [View news story]
I have the Nexus 7 and it isn't as good as the first generation iPad.

Nexus 7: Youtube videos are locked portrait mode? I've googled fixing that but it's shocking that it is released that way...

Then there is the keyboard issue where android keyboard locks up and you can't type anything. SUPER ANNOYING. Just makes me want to return it but instead I let me 2 year old son play with it but he too prefers a gen 1 iPad.

Oh and while i'm thinking about it, the cable connector on the Nexus (and all android devices) is so frustrating that most of the time when you go to plug it in, it is so tight and tricky to get in that I flip it over thinking it must be upside down when in fact it wasn't. Trying to plug it in while in low lighting is almost impossible. Inferior components absolutely tell the story on the Nexus IMO.

Not exactly "junk" but nothing great about cutting all the corners you can to make a cheap product.

  • Sirius XM - The Poster Child For Poor Marketing  [View article]
Thanks for the article. I totally agree that Payton Manning calling the station change out via XM is just horrible. It's like the commercial was made way back when XM was just as strong as Sirius and some people would know what he was doing in the ad. I noticed it and I did "get it" but I feel that only existing subscribers would even catch the comment and understand it. People who are new to the service or have never heard of it before would completely miss that reference and that seems really obvious to me.

If SiriusXM paid for that ad (which I know they did), they totally wasted their money....

Although this marketing attempt was completely laughable, I believe it really highlights the bigger problem of supporting both Sirius and XM brands. Still to this day if you have a Sirius account and buy a used/new car with an XM receiver it will be completely useless and if you call them up they will do their best to transfer your account to the "XM" side of the business. I am not sure but I believe both companies Sirius & XM still have different call center teams that still constantly try to raise their own numbers at the expense of the other side of the business.

SiriusXM is not only the poster child for poor marketing but also the poster child for poor merging.

  • Sirius XM Radio (SIRI) moves up 1.5% premarket as traders keep evaluating the impact the Disney-Netflix deal will have on the company. SA author Stephen Faulkner predicted the reaction, calling the downward spike in SIRI yesterday off the Netflix news as overdone. His take on the complicated entanglement of Liberty Media, Starz, and Netfliz: "Both Sirius XM's and Starz's performance will impact Liberty Media's valuation, but Sirius XM and Starz do not affect each other."  [View news story]
Stephen Faulkner still gets my vote for SIRI's new CEO that's how well he knows the business and stock!
