  • Has Silver's Outperformance Reversed? [View article]
To analyze a trend reversal based on one week is peculiar. That week also happens to include a quardruple witching, an FOMC meeting, and the G20 confabs. Short silver at your own peril. (Not a good idea.)

  • Natural Gas: An Energy Resource Whose Time Has Come [View article]
Nat gas wells deplete quickly so we may not have the supply we think. I'm a nat gas bull and hold PWE and UNG.

  • Are Commodities Still a Safe Haven? [View article]
With all due respect, how can this mean anything when you don't distinguish between commodities or look at a specific time period? It's a strange way to look at markets and performance. If he's managing people's money or managed people's money, doesn't that imply ongoing choices? I'm not talking about day trading, which is ridiculous, but I'm talking about a certain amount of judicious selection based upon ideas of fundamentals as well as an examination of trends.

  • The Short and Long Term Outlook for Gold, Silver [View article]
Study up, dude. Go look at some old Ted Butler columns on the supply, or lack thereof, of silver.

  • What's Driving Natural Gas? [View article]
There's a fair amount of evidence that the depreciation rates of the nat gas wells is high and that we actually are counting on outflow that won't be there when we need it.

Very nice, professional analysis. I agree.

  • Comex Silver - Another Bubble or Desperation? [View article]
Don't forget your silver mining stocks--SLW is great (low overhead, just bought Barrick output), Impact Silver, Sabina Silver, SSRI, Silver Dragon (look at the latest drill results). Silver will break through. China may ban exports, which will be interesting, and is encouraging citizens to buy and hold physical silver (and gold). Longs in the COMEX do take delivery, obviously. The problem with the CFTC now is that, though Butler pins some hopes on him, Gary Gensler is a Goldman graduate.

  • Silver Trending Towards Backwardation Again [View article]
People should also read the Ted Butler archives. Very astute, Trace. It's going to be interesting, to say the least.

  • Who Else Has Been Buying Gold? [View article]
I hate when commenters post the same thing in many places--these are basically ads--Oman, for example.

I've held physical gold since under $300 and have lots of silver, including physical and the wonderful SLW. It's not gold versus silver, it's both. Probably, yes, for hedge funds, it's the price of opportunity, but I'm not a day trader.

  • How Necessary Is an 'Inverse Dollar ETF'? [View article]
Although I don't think the dollar will hold its purchasing power, I wouldn't short it in an envrionment of competitive devaluation.

  • Gold and the India Factor [View article]
India's role has given way to China's. The Chinese government is now encouraging citizens to buy gold and silver. This will have a big impact on the PM markets.

  • UNG Trading 101 [View article]
I bought some UNG at $12 plus and some at $11 plus. Monday should be a good time to buy a little more. One trader says you should be prepared to buy (whatever you like) down to zero. UNG will definitely pop back up. Remember that sage advice: Buy low, sell high. I know that some traders wait for the confirmation of a breakout. I guess it depends on whether you can judge the underlying fundamentals. One's timing is rarely perfect, however.

  • Hong Kong Recalls Gold Reserves: Why No News Coverage? [View article]
It's another step in the Chinese plan to be THE superpower. Yes, the Chinese government is oppressive and dreadful.a la Mao (who buried people alive), the Red Guard period, the takeover of Tibet (the dismantling of the temples and the imprisonment and torture of the monks etc.)--but they are planful. They're buying commodities for dominance in this century and beyond. We, on the other hand, can't plan a day ahead due to programmed trading and Washington's dedication to politics and corrupt and cynical dealings and not the people who elected them.

Any answers? Long physical precious metals.

  • Is the Gold - Dollar Relationship Breaking Down? [View article]
Sometimes gold runs opposite to the dollar, but sometimes with it. So to say there's a gold-dollar relationshop or a gold-oil relationship isn't exactly the case.

As for the dollar remaining the world currency--no. Steps are already in full gear to toss dollar supremacy.

  • Another Natural Gas Bull Sticks His Neck Out [View article]
I think SEC just signed off on more shares--heard someone mention the new shares on CNBC just now. The EIA numbers were benign said one trader. Can we live without nat gas? I don't think so. Even if we have no uptick in industrial demand. I'm cautiously bullish for now, more bullish for a year or two from now.
