  • Is VALE Now an Oil Company? [View article]
Vale competitor BHP is in oil. I don't see what the problem is. It's not like they are in the consortium alone. They have very experienced partners in this venture. Vale is probably providing cash in return for a certain amount of oil which they need for the core business of mining and refining. Seems like a wise move.

  • Is Vale Searching for a New Acquisition? [View article]
As a long time long, I think a Freeport McMoran acquisition would make more sense than Anglo American. This way large assets could be focused in the Americas. Of course there is Alcoa but Aluminum takes sooo much energy to produce it's scary. I'd prefer that Vale have more copper assets.

  • Vale Results Leave Much To Be Desired - and Explained [View article]
Mistake in article about majors "eschewed big time nickel plays or any nickel plays" BHPBilliton is developing Ravensthorpe which also suffers from cost overruns. BHPBilliton acquired smaller nickel plays in Australia.
Also with Inco, Vale also got Voisey's Bay which will be producing nickel for the market soon.
