Can McDonald's Maintain Its Leadership Forever? [View article]
Absolutely. I tend to buy often when the Goldman or the others downgrade. I bought TGT when they downgraded them after an earnings miss and am doing very well on that position etc.. Buy quality on sale! Simple and so easy even I can do it.

I started a core position in MCD in the 80's recently, and wil be holding forever.. Love driving by McDonald's and seeing their drive through so packed the line extends onto the road. Long MCD!
Mondelez International (MDLZ): Q1 EPS of $0.34 in-line. Revenue of $8.7B (+0.9% Y/Y) in-line. Shares +1.1% AH. (PR) [View news story]
I picked up some MDLZ in the 20's for my one year old and he's doing well so far... Looking for some great growth and dividends for him over the next several decades!
Palo Alto Networks (PANW -1%) closes modestly lower in the wake of Intel's (INTC) deal to buy Finnish security hardware vendor Stonesoft. Stonesoft's product line includes next-gen firewalls, and though its presence in this space doesn't compare with PANW's, Intel's resources and McAfee's security software (could allow for richer content analysis) stands to make it a tougher rival. Stonesoft, which relies on a security engine that can be modified to support different types of hardware, also makes intrusion prevention systems, but shares of Sourcefire (FIRE +0.5%), the leader in this market, have closed slightly higher. hilarious. McAfee is irrelevant in the NGFW space....
Intel's (INTC) security software unit, McAfee, has agreed to acquire Finish network firewall provider Stonesoft for around $389M, with the offer of €4.50 a share representing a 128% premium to the latter's closing price of €1.97 on Friday. The deal comes despite the slump in the PC industry hurting sales of security software. (PR) [View news story]
McAfee is slowly fading and losing the dominance it once had in the security market.... They sell firewalls that no one buys (PAN ate their lunch), anti-virus is stable but still doesn't protect against a very large majority of attacks these days (Malware & APTs) and the new players with updated engines are showing the outdatedness of the signature\pattern matching method. Google the NYT hack recently, FB\Apple hack, and you'll understand Symantec, McAfee, and others with the pattern matching virus mentality will change, and not in a good way.

I have bought a small position for my portfolio, as well as my one year old... Looking down the time horizon we have, this will be a big winner for us both... especially him.

New York City is ~1200 miles away from the Gulf of Mexico, but that doesn't stop it from suingBP for more than $39M in losses it claims beneficiaries of the city's pension funds suffered due to BP's "misconduct and fraudulent behavior" linked to the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill. Democrat trial lawyers are busy I can see..
BP has a spill, they milk them, while they are getting milked they don't pay dividends, they sue them for that too.. Unbelievable.
Bank of America (BAC) shareholders better familiarize themselves with Article 77, writes Mark Palmer, as it's possible the $8.5B the bank has reserved to handle claims against Countrywide MBS will be woefully small. At issue is an Article 77 proceeding set to begin May 30 at which a judge could toss the $8.5B settlement. The number might then reach as high as $60.5B, writes Palmer - about 24% of the bank's book value. [View news story]
Obama needs a bank to nationalize, here's the first try.
"It’s going to be a very rough ride” for the oil majors, Oppenheimer's Fadel Gheit says in response to Exxon's (XOM -1%) nearly flat profit growth, falling production and rising costs. “If oil prices go down from here, no major integrated oil company will beat the S&P." Top oil producers may need to try something radical to reward their shareholders, such as the spinoffs of refining businesses by Marathon Oil and Conoco. [View news story]
I long to have your share count of XOM... good work.
