  • Green Energy Experts: Why Do They Buy Solars? [View article]
It would make very good use of your time to look at RTK (Rentech)

They have developed the Process for Bio-fuel plus clean diesel from most any carbon source.

  • Grid Connectivity: Invest in Alternative Energy's Missing Link [View article]
If you want to drive yourself nuts in a short period of time, hang around a Wind Driven power gererator. The noise will send you to the happy farm and your neighbors (if you had one at your house) will have target practice with the blades. Then the "Tree Huggers" will have you in court due to all the birds killed.

    NOT GUNNA HAPPEN!

  • Selling Intel Puts on Its Emerging Market Potential  [View article]
Intel is the 800 lb. gorilla in the chip world and has an almost impregnable "barrier to competition". Selling puts is a great way to buy a long term hold at a good price and make some extra coin in the process. I own INTC and for the short term, I sold the Oct 20 calls because I see a bleak remainder of 2009.

  • What Is the Barrier to Entry in the CDN Business? A Few Hundred Million [View article]
In addition to being a CDN, LVLT probably owns most of the in-the-ground fiber optic infrastructure world wide and likely gets a nice fee from AKAM and other CDN competitors. Now this is a real barrier to entry worth billions. Very few analysts seem to recognize the true worth of LVLT, similar to railroads and their right-of-ways many years ago.

  • Expert: Coal Reserve Estimates Way Too High [View article]
I would dispute one of the last statements that "Coal to liquid fuel is dirtier".

Modern pilot plants by compamies such as Rentech have produced very clean fuel.

  • Interest in HDTV at Electronics Web Sites [View article]
There is no doubt that Pioneer makes the best HDTV the world has seen. They recently released the latest version but it is not the Elite model, which will come later. For best value, look for the Elite Kuro from last year.

  • Apple: Leading the Way to a Total Tech Breakdown [View article]
David, Whats a rocket surgeon? Anyway, people interpret patterns on a chart and predict the future need to live in Taladaga, Fl.
The only way to have any predictability is to have enough people who believe it and thus make it happen, a self fullfilling prophrosy.
    That still doesn't represent reality.

  • Authentec: Downgraded to Hold on Lower Outlook [View article]
AUTH has now entered the relm of "High Risk, High Reward"
So, if you wish to speculate a bit and compare it to other potentials out there, they actually look pretty good.

A mature product (Verses a start-up), Mistakes made but identified and corrective action taken, Honest answers rather than hide bad news. I could name a few more but you get the picture. I bought some shares today.

  • The Electric Car Battery Battle [View article]
Doug K It's obvious you are fairly knowlegeable about alternate methods of power for cars and you also hate GM.

I'm sorry, but your parameter comparison of NiMH and Li-on are not accurate except for cost and for the moment, reliability. Given the maturity gap of the two, It is difficult to make comparisons. I believe Li-on will surpass NiMH in these issues in the near future.

Again, look at the power tool industry which changed over to Li-on within two years of introduction.

  • The Electric Car Battery Battle [View article]
Theorize all you want about which battery technology will power future cars, I prefer to use empirical data when available.

Just look at the power tool industry and radio controlled plane and helicoptor hobbies for a glimpse into the future. MHD batteries went the way of the buggy whip; replaced by Lithium/Ion because of superior performance and reduction of size and weight.

Look for companies developing methods of mass production as target investments.

  • Marvel's Superhero Results Can't Prevent a Dramatic Stock Drop [View article]
We are simply seeing the effect of short term thinkers. I was happy to see MVL take their destiny into their own hands with in-house production. They will be one of my core holdings for a long time.
