KSS announced a -7.2% comp in May. I assume that the +1.2% (total sales, incl. new locations) was included by you in error. No big deal.

PS- But, wow, even in this environment, 90% of cashiers that you approached said sales were not weak. Based on this clear indication of an absolutely huge June from KSS, I am entering big time!

      worst. research. ever.

I agree with first comment. notice author left out the number of CEC waitresses interviewed. I bet it was less than the .003% burger kings visited.

I so want to believe these guys. But from what i can tell, all they do is write up dozens of findings, then pick the 1 in 10 that turns out to have some merit (based on the law of averages), and cheerlead that "call" in the comments section of the blog.

It would be a lot more genuine to include post-mortems on the 90% of findings that turn out to be dead wrong when compared to actual developments.

Even the sell-side analysts have to plot their upgrades and downgrades on a stock price chart on the last page of their reports.

Footlocker mentions Nike as their biggexst seller about a hundred times in their annual report. I assume if you dig up the old FINL reports it would say the same thing.

      Dudes-
Knowing that SONCs are typically closer to a MCD (13,000 locations) than BKC's (7000 locations) is cool, but knowing that SONC might warn on the quarter and sell off 7% in 2 mins. would have been cooler. Just saying...

TGT posted below-consensus April sales. Shares are off 3.5% early. KSS looks like a nice call but shares are also off. Puzzling. May 08 10:15 AM

BeBe reported a -8% comp two weeks after your headline: "Bebe (BEBE) Sales Still Doing Well with Spring Dresses Making a Booming Trade" was posted. I am confused how this is helpful? May 06 05:17 PM

ODP reported a -9% N. American comp four days after this post. 93% of your guys reported flat or increased comp sales. Yikes. May 06 05:06 PM

If all Red Lobsters are company-owned (no franchisees w/ side hedge contracts). Shouldn't the issue of lobster price increases be binary? I mean, like oil, either prices are up or they are not. To me, the fact that the hostesses that you interviewed were split on the issue calls the other findings into question.

By the way, as of 4/24/08 it appears from this article that lobter prices were off significantly from last year. The opposite of your survey findings. See below.
