It will surprise only the ignorant when this economy finally swirls down the toilet for good. This is not just some cyclical event that the brainiac nerds want to continue to deny. They have created it and deny its depth and gravity.....

Greg Reid: Geothermal, the 'Sleeping Giant' [View article]
Thank you for the updated information. I am hoping to cash in on the rise of the industry. They are scheduled to be online in twelve months (4/2010). They have reached imortant milestones in the development of the resource. In particular, they have a 20 year, $500,000 contract signed with Pacific Gas & Electric based on fixed $/Mw. They have their contracts signed with NCPA (Northern California Power Association.) Their steam turbine is under construction and is slated for delivery in August. They have over half the needed steam (19+MW) behind pipe with three holes left to finish drilling. Additioonally, they are slated to have thier second plant also under construction in Canada operational in 2011 See westerngeopower.com for exact information. They have a periodic newsletter you may sign up for free. They are trading on the pink sheets WGPWF at $0.20-.024 under increasing volume. Long: WGPWF
Money Remains Main Barrier to Geothermal Power [View article]
Geothermal is a fledgling industry, even though it has had some limited exploitation over the last 50 years. Companies like Ormat have been players for a while. Start ups like Nevada Geothermal, Western Geopower and the like have stepped up to the plate to develop more geothermal resources and take a bad rap for being wannabe players. More often than not companies start out as pink sheet penny stocks before hitting the big time. Those geothermal companies which stick their necks out and endure the ridicule of being the red-headed step child of the energy industry will be the ones who have the last laugh. Geothermal is one of the smartest technologies we have ever devised for harvesting energy for electricity production. The ROI for these companies will be huge. It is a rarity in todays market to still be able to get in on the ground floor of companies which are poised to be money making machines. This is one rare chance to hit a grand slam in your investing life. Personally I have opted in. I will be laughing all the way to the bank while most others will be trying to find a way to eek out single digit gains over time. Belittle and avoid these companies and miss out on multi-bagger gains or invest and get rich. You choose. I am long WGPWF and NGLPF

Here you go. Western Geopower Corp.(WGPWF) on the pink sheets currently at 14 cents US. 35 MW plant coming online in California at Healdsburg (Sonoma County) in April 2010. They are on time on budget and have their contracts signed with the necessary entities. They have a second plant being developed in Canada which they assert will come into production in 2012. Visit Westerngeopower.com & sign up for their updates. I bought lots of it while it's cheap. This is a multi-bagger in the making.
The Green New Deal: Stocks That Stand to Benefit [View article]
Other Alt-E companies will benefit as well. Geothermals will be money machines. Western Geopower Corp. has a 35Mw plant under construction in CA at Healdsburg which will be generating power by April of 2010. WGPWF on the pink sheets. Speculative. High reward to risk ratio. The Five Most Important Energy Forecasts of 2008 [View article]
Geothermal seems to be the least discussed Alt-E resource and one of the cleanest most consistent producers. Why do you suppose that is?
The political system is encouraging power production of this type and the carbon credit markets will find footing in the near future. Projects are being developed worldwide and will likely gain additional favor in days/yrs to come. I am an advocate of the technology and can not see any real downside to it.
The West has a number of new and existing plants. Western Geopower Inc. is moving ahead with their project at the Geysers in Healdsburg (Napa County, CA) will be online with a new 35Mw plant in April 2010 and currently has over half its needed steam behind pipe. They have PG&E and NCPA contracts signed and is poised to meet or beat its April 2010 deadline for plugging in to the grid. Western (WGPWF)is a speculative play priced in the 12 cent range, which in a matter af a few short months aught to bring a minimum of a ten-fold return. You heard it here first.
Renewable Energy Is at the Center of the Presidential Debate [View article]
Too bad the red-headed step child of Geothermal isn't being discussed. Of all the alt-E plays to make these days, it remains the one renewable receiving the least press when it has some of the highest efficiencies and lowest environmental impacts. They have high output, low-footprint business models that keep even the most staunch NIMBY's quiet, not to mention a gazillion dollars of carbon credits to sell. Alt-E plays are not limited to solar arrays and wind turbine towers: while momentarily awesome to look at, they are real eye-sores over time. Many Geothermals are revving up turbines in the next 12-24 months. You might want to catch the wave. It's one-stepchild worth a 10-100 times current valuations.
Time For Another Look At Geothermals? [View article]
If you are seeking an interesting early stage play, Western Geopower Inc has a plant in development in the California wine country at The Geysers--Healdsburg that is slated to come on line in April 2010. They have contracts signed for 20 years with Pacific Gas and Electric for $500,000,000... which is at $98/MW. They have couple holes drilled that have the high temp and pressure needed for this project. Engineers are pleased with results.
This is a speculative play since the plant is still being built and they are burning cash. For those with the stomach for it, this is likely to be a ten to twenty bagger. WGPWF on the pink sheets trading at $0.23. Just a thought for those wanting to make a groung floor play in this sector.
$125 Oil Not Sustainable for the Time Being [View article]
This author may be an amatuer, however most investors reading this and in the market are lemmings anyway. I don't care how sophisticated you may think you are with your MBA's and PhD's in math and theoretical bla bla bla....more people in the market are wrong more than they are right, no matter how smart they tout themselves to be.
When the oil minister of Saudi (or was it Syria) spoke two weeks ago, he made it abundantly clear that there is NO LOGIC behind the prices being what they are, and was just as clear that they were laughing all the way to the bank while the insanity was continuing. Smart people all over the world are seeking logical explanations for oil prices being driven by the insanity of irrational human behavior.
FEAR and GREED are the drivers of this market, not peak oil, not the colapse of the US Dollar, not excess demand, not China, not a verbal shot over the bow of the Iranian politboro. The speculators are having a ball getting their daily dose of adrenaline. One day in the not so distant future, this will all correct itself. I am just another bozo on the bus with my better than average education, calling a spade a spade. There is so much US-egocentrism oozing out on the pages of SA that few acknowledge the pain the rest of the world nations feel in their own wallets when they pump the goo into their tanks. Demand will fall, perhaps not for long, but surely enough to reduce enough fears and enough to knock the greedy specultators off their bubble. More highly educated smart people will lose their shirts thinking they had this whole thing figured out. History will again repeat itself in this scenario. This bozo predicts oil back at $105-110 by year end.
