    So...why weren't Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac allowed to fail? Because of Russia, China, Japan, et al They said those bonds were insured and the U.S. said, "Oh no they're not", then they said, "yes they are", and we said, "Oh, that's right---they are." By golly there is strength in numbers...sometimes!

    AIG can't fail? Do you all remember the phrase: "Home ownership has never been higher"? And how did it get that way? By 'whistling past the graveyard'.
