CWB Illustrates How Convertible Bond ETFs Can Be a Powerful Portfolio Addition [View article]
The Calamos funds are known for convertibles and both CHI and CHI have outperformed CWB, albiet modestly. However, Nicholas-Applegate's NCZ and NCV have significantly outperformed them all.
Liquidity can be an issue in these type funds and while I cannot confirm CWB's market cap, it does appear the daily average dollar volume is comparible.
The funds I've mentioned also have dividend yields that are twice CWB, although they have been cut in the past. I should note that CWB's dividend, while it appears to be monthly like the others, the 4 CWB dividends I find on ETFconnect.com have all varied whereas the funds I mention typically set dividend policies for 1 year out (so you could get out if you fear a dividend cut).
I welcome the addition of another convertible fund but I would prefer to play the others, at least until CWB is "seasoned".
