News article published today gives more insight into why the SEC didn't investigate Madoff thoroughly.....one of the SEC chiefs assigned to the "investigation" married Madoff's niece in 2007 after "knowing" her since 2004! Gosh, think that played a role in it?
Well, a great big resounding Duh to that. We all knew from Day One it was something much more than just typical gov't incompetance, as nothing could be that abjectly stupid, even the gov't.

When Porsche ever sells fewer $80-$170K sports cars than it did the previous year, I will finally believe that this latest econ. scandle means something more than merely an inconvenient nuisance to very rich Americans.
Other than that happening, I am so very sure that it's life-at-the-top as usual for them and crap once again for the middle class that mostly pays for everything bad that our "fearless leaders" do to us as citizens.

Detriot should try to build a car to the very best of its ability, slowly and mostly by hand if necessary, to see if it can actually do it with parts and materials it typically uses. If that car is still not as good in quality and reliability as the average Japanese car, Detroit should exit the car business forever. It proved it cannot compete, even with a specially built car.
Trump never puts his own money into any development project as that is his biz model, as he and others think his name on it is enough for a substantial equity stake. So, whatever he loses under BK is nothing out of his own pocket. And, he is so arrogant, that money lost by others under his name is of no concern to him, nor are the many BKs. He considers himself to be well "above" and detached from all that. Methinks The Donald has just about run his course and will not be much of a face in future gossip news. His time is past.

The oddest thing about the "stimulus" plan is that it will not not stimulate the economy as it's not going to provide much but tothe public sector(thus the socialism word). Obama is giving $500B to social services like MedicAid! What is taxpayer paid healthcare for "his poor people" going to do to solve this economic crisis? What is the taxpayer return on that investment? It sure doesn't build infrastructure that was the reason for the money in DC a while back. I guess this is his way of giving Civil War reparations to "his people" 150 years later.

What more can they do to (try to) convince us that all things financial will soon not only be operational, but humming again?
Looks like two strikes so far to me.
