I have a question about PG. A lot of brand-name supermarket-type manufacturers also make generic brands and private label goods. Wegman's doesn't actually produce Wegman's brand applesauce; it contracts with some producer like Musselman's to put Wegman's labels on the jar. So Musselman's (in my example; I don't know who makes applesauce for Wegman's) profits whether the shopper buys the name brand or the store brand.
Does PG make store brand instant coffee and still make money if the shopper steps downscale from the heavily advertised name brand? If so, these hard times won't hurt them too much; if not, they're done for.
