The Google Phone, Unlocked (Confirmed and More Details) [View article]
The writing is on the wall..Google is becoming a phone company.!
They have the phone. They have the wi-fi They have the spectrum They have the customers - If I am not mistaken they have over a million loyal Google voice users who use their google voice service to make a phone call. Google voice is not even open to the public yet. I realize most people don't have access to google voice but ask those who do how much they love their service. The waiting list to get Google voice account is huge. I have been using it for 2 yrs (since it was Grand Central) and I can't tell you how much I appreciate the service. I even use Google voice to make international calls. I spend about $40.00 a month just making international calls. I like the fact buying long distance is credit is easy, calling is easy and I don't get charged with connection fee and etc fees.
I can't wait for Google's phone so I can use it with my Google voice account.
Google may not be threat but it is surely changing the way we use phones. It surely has changed me with Google voice.

It is expected that cyber shopping will continue to grow as people become more comfortable on olnline shopping and etc.
I don't have the numbers on my hand but instore shopping is still huge compare to cyber shopping and a drop in store shopping says much more than a 5-10% increase on online shopping.
Google's Android vs. Apple: History Repeats Itself [View article]
In about 2-3 years Google can become huge mobile phone player. They are slowly building huge telephone/mobile customer base using Google Voice, building a nice slick mobile software (android) and add things like Free maps and you have a real threat to Apple.
I realize Apple can still capture huge percentage of smart phone market but it is nice to have an alternative option to keep their prices in check.
Google Drops a Nuclear Bomb on Microsoft. And It's Made of Chrome. [View article]
Yes, it is easy for the geeks and nerds to install linux/OS and may run the new chrome OS but the average person doesn't want to do it or have the time to do it. My wife is a prime example. She is an office manager and I suggested to her to consider using start office instead of ms-office software. Her response was big No. Why? Because she and her staff have been using office and they have no desire to change and learn anything new. It is great news for geeks but the average user doesn't care . It is not like the geeks pay for their OS anyway.
Why do shareholders always feel they need to do something with cash? Putting the cash in a bank and get 3-5% interest is not a bad thing in some instances. I wish I did that in early 2008.
Also, not making a major acquisition is not a bad strategy as well. I am glad they didn't do any acquisition in 2008, Could you imagined if Apple had made an offer to buy Yahoo or adobe like some investors wanted?
The only concern I have with apple's cash pile is, It would be nice to diversify it with several currencies instead of putting all in dollars.
Looking for a Cause for Thursday's Sell-off? Blame Greenspan [View article]
Wallstreet listens to Greenspan because he has knowledge and he is probably one of the few people who can actually understand what kind of mess we are in.
May be CNBC should give you airtime for your "analysis" instead of Greenspan who is by far probably one of the smartest economist around.

I was at local Best Buy store about two weeks ago and they had several macs on display. I asked the sales man if customers really buying those macs and he said that about 30% of computer sells are macs.
Let me just share what I noticed while I was in Ethiopia, Africa just two months ago. Currently the mobile penetration is one of the lowest in Africa - about 2%. I was in the capital city which has a population of 5 million and about 1million mobile users. I saw several ads posted by local mobile kiosks indicating that they unlock iphones. I asked the guy how people get the iphones and he told me most of them bring it from U.S. Mind you, this was in Africa in one of the poorest country in the world. Also, guess what was the hot electronic item? Ipods!!
