New iPhone App Could Boost Sirius XM's Cash [View article]
Big Vinnie: It would be nice if SIRI could use their economies of scale from the merger to keep the line on prices but their survival depends on showing that they can reduce losses, finally make a profit and reduce debt load. I prefer that they survive and will pay more fo teh dervice.

I like the I-phone app idea but people arguing over the delivery methods are missing the point of the company. They are a provider of content, much like movie studios and TV networks. Whether a network delivers over satellite, airwaves or cable, it the content that people subscribe to, not "the pipes" as Davis Sarnoff put it. Paley and CBS stole the best NBC content at the dawn of the television age giving CBS a commanding position for 20 years. The more delivery methods they use, the more content they can sell. I don't care if they use dixie cups and a string to do it.

I've been convinced for a while. If you think about it, who profits by:
1) Spreading potential SIRI bankruptcy rumors?
2) Constant shorting of a $0.12//share stock? How do you make much money doing that?
3) Constantly harrassing SIRI with shareholder suits?
4) Costant lobbying of the FCC to harrass SIRI?
5) The constant character assasination of SIRI management?
I am not usually a conspiricy theorist but "Terrestrial Radio" interests, who have everything to benefit and little to lose by the destruction of Sirius/XM. If someone is a SIRI owner why would you want to constantly bash the stock? It can only have a detrmental effect. If you are not a SIRI owner,, why would you spend your days surfing message boards to make negative posts? Because you have something to gain, that's why.
The strategy of negative votes against you is to drive out any positive mention of SIRI. I'm glad you got mad. BTW, Relmor: I never voted before but I always give you a "thumbs up" now!

I am a believer that worst is yet to come on the economy and your article and GM's prediction may well be accurate but It could also be posturing in teh PR war to obtain more bailout funds.
Mel's MO from the start has been to NOT disappoint. I can't imagine that he is going to change now. I agree wholeheartedly with #2. If I hear one more Ashley Madison commercial, i'll puke. If I were Proctor & Gamble or McDonalds, I wouldn't buy space between or around them. Can they afford #1 right now? I agree with #7 and 8. They are more limited in the workplace no that they are uncensored but I have a sub for my employees.

I dobt more than a few cancelled because of Bubba's new contract. They just want to vent and whine a bit, which I would do if my favorite channels were cancelled. I find the vocal Bubba Army annoying sometimes as well but after all, it is America, isn't it?

This is an entertaining slugfest but I thought I'd interupt to tell Brandon that I also think it is an encouraging sign and good news for SIRI. And I don't give a rat's *** how anyone rates my posts.

I think the idea of donations may have an adverse effect with the public of a company with it's tin cup full of pencils out for charity. I like Tyler's other ideas about packages, though. I think the ad blitz will start when the plans and new radios are actually available.
What Happened to the Sirius Post Labor Day Conference Call? [View article]
I think that a post Labor Day press conference means just that. After labor day doesn't have to mean the next day. I am under the impression that both SIRI and XMSR hid a lot of info from each other to protect themselves in case the merger didn't go through. Now there may be a lot of details that were not forseen. Mel doen't usually disappoint so I'll give him a few more days.

I have already noticed a better grade of advertiser appearing in the past two weeks on Stern and NFL. Sony as appeared and I forget the other. I hope the booring, repetitive debt consolidator ads, etcf. go away soon, replaced by something less unseamly. Sounds like a merger synergy to me.
Sirius XM Radio: Good Quarter, Average Call [View article]
My guess for why the call was average is that Sirius and XM kept a lot secret from each other until the merger closed. One thing you can count on from Mel is that he won't disappoint with glowing estimates he isn't sure he can make, unlike XM did in the past. Good news will trickle out in the months to come and confidence will grow.
