I am aware the majority of the SA community does not care for ZH, but this latest story I found rather amazing: the facts laid out are beyond my experience.

  • Gold Sector Recap For Week Ended 4/12/2013 [View instapost]
John...thanks for another even-handed sensible article. Today's price action, coupled with Friday's, merely IMO concurs with your statement: "There were no "fundamentals" behind Friday's price move other than the manufacture of PM derivatives out of thin air." Altogether a remarkable event, but IMO an extremely transient one given the macroeconomic circumstances; I concur it is mandatory to not be whipsawed by paper price action.

  • Cyprus Gold Sale Misinformation - Is Everyone Out To Get Gold? [View article]
New supply? 10 tons? That is a rounding error in PRC phys purchases.

GR...your comment is a bit too metaphysical for my analytic taste. Demand is when people will trade colored pieces of paper for physical goods (or other pieces of colored paper). EOM. I believe I like JB's POV rather than your Platonic distinction of demand and desire.

  • Gold Rolls Over After Breaking Key Level [View article]
fish...great comment, especially the second sentence. There are sources of hypoth/deliverable phys: GLD is liquidating, CBs need to support fiat currencies, and there are other sources I will not name to avoid "conspiracy" hysteria. I would like to repeat one of your key points:
"But to see an estimated 500 tons of paper gold be shorted means that people with very deep pockets need the price lower. I think we have "the working group on financial markets" to thank for today. It's is funny that available physical gold is in somewhat short supply, meaning real buyers exist, but not paper buyers."
Therefore, do we not conclude this is the beginning, of a relatively short process, bifurcating the paper/phys markets and perhaps eliminating the retail paper markets. I think the substantive clues will perhaps be in backwardation of the futures markets, US and elsewhere, in the reasonably near future. Pls reply with logic or factual errors should you care to.

  • Gold Setting Up To Crush Hedge Fund Shorts [View article]
Abe...the hedge funds, inclusive of prop desks, materially changed their positional exposure in the last four weeks. My comments were not rude in the slightest. Your fourth sentence is factually incorrect; even though the COTS data is 10 days stale when published, you can easily see the positioning. I am not arbitrarily rude to you or anyone. Freefall....perhaps. Depends on relevant timeframe.

  • Cramer's Lightning Round - Get Realogy (4/11/13) [View article]
I pay no attention to financial MSM, and certainly no attention to Cramer. Were his comments on VHC really this idiotic? Was this really all he had to say concerning the name? Why did he bother mentioning it? Please: no one bother responding to this comment. I believe the answers are probably yes, yes, and who cares.

  • Eldorado Gold: Growth And Value [View article]
Completely meaningless with respect to POG; people do not understand that one of the terms of any ECB bailout is that the sovereign state hypothecate its phys gold reserves as collateral to the ECB. The only meaning, and it is substantive, is removal of alternative stores of wealth from EU sovereigns and increased reliance on fiat Euro.
