The 'Peak Oil' Myth: New Oil Is Plentiful

Peak Oil or not? Does it matter? What is ultimately of importance is that we begin to question the uses we put to the oil we find. And the increasing cost of oil based products, like food and transport for example, is focusing our attention on our uses and misuses. Even if the Saudis find another huge reserve of oil do we want to continue sending our hard earned money to them? Or to Mr Chavez, Mr Putin, or to Mr Ahmadinijad? Do we want to continue to fight wars over it?

The sooner we develop safe, clean, renewable alternatives to our oil based economy, the sooner we will regain the prosperity and independence we are so rapidly exporting. We must look at oil and natural gas as a gift, and an opportunity to facilitate the transformation of society to a condition of sustainability. We owe this to the next generations who will be sorely impoverished if we fail to do so.
