just want make sure I understand Pattricia013 correctly,

A 30 billion dollar company , with a 100%+ gain off stock low and projetcted growth and she says ebay is "circliing the drain" ?

Sounds more like a miffed seller with an axe to grind than an investor.

Yep ebay does face growth issues and appears to lack a real plan to leverage its base of users, but this is not a distressed company, merely one with a lack of vision.

  • Is Apple Going to Compete with PayPal? [View article]
Paypal has provided a cheap fast easy safe way to millions of people to send money home. It is used worldwide.

There are plenty of poorly informed punters here quick to slag it off, but in terms of REAL service Paypal has eased the lives of many with cheap methods for moving small amounts of cash.
Prior to this many people had to pay huge fees to money handlers who flew back witht monies but took a hefty cut to do it.

  • MoneySense Magazine Picks 10 Stocks for the Next 10 Years [View article]

I have this great trick I try to do with stocks, I buy them when they are cheaper and then sell them when they are higher.

Stocks like JNJ and MSFT are great for this, they are both good long term holds, and can be traded even by know nothings like me...

  • Amazon Prime Solidifies the Online Retailer's Dominance [View article]
    blah,,,

Just like other "Compete" posts the story leaves out data that does not fit.

Many of the amazon sales are "marketplace" sales , where amazon is taking a small fee and does not have anything to do with prime or free shipping.
And as to "new ace in the hole" it is years old.

But hey if you want to show the world, compete cant count then fine with me.

  • Why eBay Needs Shipping Cap [View article]
Guys it is about customer trust.

Lots of people are turned off by the tricks and BS that goes on all over Ebay.

Hidden refurbs grey market goods, Shipping charges , fakes. And until now the good old NEG for a NEG rating scheme.

Ebay was getting nasty ugly and not worth the effort. By cleaning it up they might be able to get the buyers back.

(MSFT cashback / ebay program must have boosted the numbers)
