Why Research in Motion Is a Takeover Target [View article]
I sense there are a lot of analysts on the wrong side of Rimm, and any deal would provide an exit point for them.
And yet a Rimm merger could be interesting. With who though? MSFT, is interested in its next gen phone OS, not owning yet another platform, having 3 is bad enough.
Nok, could have some interest, but again, platforms, and if getting a new one why not just jump on the goog platform..
Partnership might be a way forward, goog or msft could "buy" the blackberry with heavy funding and stick android / wm7 inside.
Every player with a big stack and any kind of draw will play this hand to the river. But remember this is a cash game, not tournament, so while one or two will go broke many will walk away with fortunes......
Tom now your just making things up. As I said before lots of huffing and puffing , but very short on facts.

Here is a nice fact , unable to keep up apple abandoned its users and moved to the WINTEL platform designed by intel and microsoft. Thanks to the tights specs that WINTEL provides apple can and does make an apple branded wintel machines, same parts from the same comanies off the same shelves.
it shows that in the global market apple has been unable to displace msft, to any degree to all.
It is important because apple users would like the public to believe that the world is swinging to them but the fact is they are only holding ground in the global market and nothing else
BTW If I am wrong please provide a link to current global stats.
everyone uses Windows and everyone knows that everyone uses Windows. And there are few salesman/RE people etc stupid enough to risk losing even one client, by jumping platforms.
the JNJ stent sales guy that would risk losing sales just to use a mac? The car salesman that wants to make things harder by using mac?
In fact it appears 95% of people agree with Billy boy and not stevie...
"dont forget how $7 billion in net cash can change the picture of a company"
pure rubbish talk. $7billion is PART of the picture already, it cant change anything. If you were talking about a magic $7billion that say Gates just gifted to dell for free and grossed up the tax, then sure that would change the picture. But existing cash is part of the current picture. Sure they have money to invest, if they didnt they would be worth less.
"Windows has scale today... but maybe not so much tomorrow"
What utter nonsense, just making up junk to support your viewpoint.

complete bolloxs there is a $20 diff and no one is buying the linux one. goto HP and check, it takes the same amount of time as it does to write this sentence.

Whose Notebook PC Business Is Most Valuable? [View article]
Or did they mean laptop?
Because if this is really about notebooks, then it is a waste, notebook are just small laptops, and netbooks are just rubbish notebooks,
And all the while laptops will blend twist turn with lots of new names and still be computers that you can take with you.
Perhaps in a few years we will all be talking about apple branded GOOGTEL machine... :)
Netbooks Gaining Traction with Consumers [View article]
As netbooks and laptops merge do we even need to call them netbooks, they are just cheap notebooks, that dont function very well.
plenty of users are already done with this low end junk, they promise a lot but fail to perform in everyday use.
Laptop are getting cheaper everyday, soon there will be no point in any of this talk. They are all laptops, some small some big.
