  • Obama and McCain Square Off on Solar [View article]
I do not understand why there are no comments refering to T. Boone Pickens Plan. He is for anything "American". He has a plan and asks the candidates to state their plan or accept his with their modifications. We need a plan that will reduce our use of foreign oil dramaticly. He proposes a major thrust of wind power througn the central coridor from Texas to the Canadian border with Wind power and would like to see the electrical grid upgraded to enable the wind and solar to get to the west and eastern U.S. Solar would be best employed in the South West. Much of the alternative power could be used to replace natural gas that is now used to produce electric power that will be relpaced by wind etc... That natural gas thar will be replaced by wind etc...would be first utilized for tranasprtation uses starting with the long haul trucks, fleets, busses and then general transportation. We could in about ten years dramaticly reduce our need for imported oil. We could also tap into the very large availability of natural gas in shale deposits located throught the country which is clean and now easily and cheaply obtained with advanced technology including side drilling and cracking to obtain a resource that was once too expensive to recover. Check out the T. boone pickens web site and sign his pledge for a plan to reach energy independence. He contends that the all electric and hydrogen vehicles will be slow to develop but we should continue to spend as much effort to develop these transportation technologies for the long run. Natural gas for transportation is a bridge to future technologies. For the present we should be using whatever American resources and conventional as well as the greener alternative renewal energy systems that can be developed.- sign up at PickensPlan.com,
