TARP: Does the Auto Bailout Qualify? [View article]
I have an unrelated question for Bone Yard. You posted previously about the BAC preferred conversion offer.... Do you have any inkling about the BAC D preferred, and why it continues to go up? It was not included in the previous offer.
Where were these details provided? What about the rest of the $25 preferreds? Presumably the larger (therefore institutional) holders disproportionately owned the more widely held issues, and the public therefore held more of the less widely held. So the little guys get no offer and get screwed relative to the bigger guys?
I'm a 50-something businessman who owns the 2-G iphone. I love this phone like no other gadget I've ever owned. True, its slow, and it makes it hard to trade stocks while I sit in a doctor's waiting room. But I can still do it! I'll probably stick with mine for another year or so before trading up because its already very very good. In the meantime, all you iphone wannabes should consider buying stock not only in Apple, but also (even more so) in Skyworks (SWKS). Supposedly they have 3 chips in the new iphone. They're a relatively small company and will probably generate $7 or more in revenue for every one sold. Plus they are a leader in 3G chips and also sell to RIMM and all the others. Buy this now for the post July 11 surge when the iphone innards are revealed.
What's Better: BlackBerry or iPhone? [View article]
I tried a blackberry a few months ago and then gave it back and bought an iphone. I hated the blackberry, love the iphone. I am able to type long e-mails. I bought a $25 hard shell case for it and have dropped it once from 4 feet with no damage. Using Safari instead of the blackberry's mobile web browser is like driving a workable car as opposed to an old russian Lada. I wish it was faster but at least I can access the internet while sitting in a doctor's office, etc. The touchscreen is excellent and the many other features are great. When all the new Apple applications come out iphone will be all that people talk about. Wonder who makes the chips in thee?
