  • Black Friday Sales Are Down Because Online Spending Is Up [View article]
I still do most of my shopping at the local stores. I buy some items online because generally they're cheaper, but you can't beat the uptown stores for browsing and checking out new products.
In the future what will be the deciding factor of the success of online shopping will be the honesty of the people selling the products. I know there are a lot of scammers out there and too many of them will put us right back in the brick and mortar stores where we at least have some control of what we're getting.

  • How Did the Major Online Retailers Cope with Black Friday Madness? [View article]
You can't see what you're getting when buying online. That being said, I did buy my wife some perfume online this year. It turned out ok so I guess you can win sometimes.

  • What's Wrong with the Gaming Industry? [View article]
Seriously now, most people around here don't act like there even was a recession. They would buy their games and cigarettes first and then worry about whether or not they could make ends meet. Most people I know would rather go to a casino or the local horse track than buy the gaming devices spoken about here. But, alas, the local casino has fallen on hard times and I'm not sure but I think the horse track has too. So I guess that somebody's cutting back.

Are you talking about the stock market? Now that's real gamBling! Odds are better you'll make money down at the local casino than on the market. At the casino they don't change the rules in the middle of the game or have congress come in and mess you up!

  • Not Everyone Likes Windows 7 [View article]
I, like a lot of people have never used anything but a PC with windows (XP on my current computer). Honestly, I don't see anything wrong with windows that wasn't caused by me trying to make it better, like trying the beta version of internet explorer 8 which had me pulling my hair out. The regular version of explorer 8 is installed on my computer now and I'm happy with it. It seems that my computers have been just as good as the guy that's maintaining them.

You people didn't really think things would be cheaper with the Democrats in power, did you? Not that the Republican borrowers were much better. Maybe Ron Paul as an Independent??

It looks like I picked a good time to be a Pfizer stock owner. I wonder if they're thinking of reducing the dividends some more? Some of these companies would do better if they just went about their business in an honest way instead of trying to scam people and break the law!

  • The Implications of Russia's Declining U.S. Debt Purchases [View article]
We have foreign countries buying up our debt, while on the other hand we are sending millions out as foreign aid. I know the foreign aid isn't as large as our debt but the fact is it will never be expected to be paid back. I think that until this national debt thing is taken care of we should cut all unnecessary spending.

I thought Nissan was a Japanese car company...How is it that they are getting loans from our government? Have they all gone crazy in Washington?

I think I have it...how about the President appointing a committee, as you said above, led by a downsizing Czar, and let that committee appoint a sub committee, each with pages, attorneys, and an advisory board to try to downsize government. Wait a minute; that would actually create more of what we're trying to do away with!

Welcome back, Rachael. Sold all my GMAC bonds yesterday...I know it's not the same as GM but it's related and eventually probably won't be worth anything. I read where the US treasury probably wouldn't be able to bail out GMAC and GM even if they wanted to.

  • Cramer's Lightning Round - Wal-Mart Will Own the World (2/23/09) [View article]
I could stop Cramer's good feeling about Wal-Mart...All I would have to do is buy a few shares of it and it would drop like a rock! It's worked with all the other stocks I've bought.

  • Consumer Spending Outlook Is 'Grim' [View article]
I don't think our politicians have the guts anymore to put America first...they take trips overseas, paid by us, to reassure our friends (and enemies) that things will be taken care of without one thought of taking care of thousands of American citizens that are unemployed and some living in the streets. To add to this we have hundreds of thousands of people pouring into America both legally and illegally to take what few jobs are left. A simple order from our authorities would stop the immigration, but they are either to lazy or corrupt to do so. Another is to stop pouring money into foreign countries when we can't afford it. Doesn't anybody look around to see that we are now the charity case? Everything our government does is on credit. We are trillions in debt and sinking faster and we are giving out foreign aid just like we did when we were a rich country.
We have American companies building new factories in foreign countries like China while American factories sit idle and if we say anything about it we are protectionists or racists or whatever. I certainly don't see anything wrong with taking care of your homeland first. That's what the others do but they cry when we do it.

So, if I'm reading this right, the Madoff victims of his scamming are actually going to do better than the Lehman bond holders after they sort out this mess. I can't believe that so many scams were going on at the same time with everybody's heads turned the other way!

Please don't encourage Congress to do anything...the last thing the working people need is another gas tax. They enact a gas tax when it is low priced and it is here to stay forever, even when gas gets to $4.50 a gallon. With Democrats in there will be enough taxes to go around without any encouragement.
