  • Polar Vortex: Risk Or Opportunity For Energy Stocks? [View article]
I am a skeptic! I think the polar vortex or lack there of is a small factor in energy company profits. The "idea" of people buying up energy stocks in anticipation of increased profits is more of a factor in creating a buying opportunity than the vortex itself. I would like to see a graph correlating XLE:SPY and media coverage of vortexes. Perhaps a daily tweet count of #damnitscold and #ihatewinter graphed out with SNATGAS. :)

    I'm probably wrong...

I believe one of the main reasons for the SC IPO was to raise funds to provision for non performing loans in Spain, UK and Brazil.

I disagree. But I hope you are right. I would like to see Microsoft reap some of the suffering that they have inflicted with Windows 8.

  • Apple, Google Will Crush Microsoft Just As Amazon Did Best Buy [View article]
In my opinion Amazon.com crushed Best Buy just like they crushed WalMart, Costco, Dollar General, Home Depot and Meijer. That is to say that Best Buy is the victim of Best Buy and not Amazon.

I believe Windows 8 is a failure and Office is losing the fight with Google Docs and Open Office. But there is much more to Microsoft than Windows 8 and Office. There is the Server software, xbox, direct x and Microsoft Dynamics among other products that will keep Microsoft a powerhouse through the next ten years.

Predictions of Microsoft's demise are laughable. But satisfying none the less because I hate Windows 8.1 so much.

I think the FTZ is a great idea.

Can you expand on this statement? “This isn’t just about tax breaks and preferential leases; this is about trying to be more imaginative to attract interest of financial institutions.” What kind of financial institutions?

  • Have Index Funds Become Too Popular? [View article]
    Thank you.

Let me ask a more general question. How should I factor in dividends, distributions, scrip dividends and inflation?

  • Have Index Funds Become Too Popular? [View article]
    Please help me understand.

For every buyer there is a seller.

What one loses the other gains minus the cost of buying and selling.

So, as a group, the active buyers and sellers have less profit because of the added cost of buying and selling.

How is the creation and destruction of shares factored in?
