Building a Kulicke and Soffa Pyramid [View article]
I worked for this company in the early 80's. C. Scott Kulicke, Charlie Salmons and several other key management people are still there and doing what needs to be done to advance the cause. There used to be a big competitor Shinakawa (Japan). I am not sure if they still exist. Coming to the present situation the savings in gold wire material cost made possible by the new bonder line may be the big driver of demand - gold having soared in price. Of course being faster doesn't hurt. See the Seeking Alpha article of March 19, 2008 also by John Gilluly for some excellent insights. John is spot on in saying that it is difficult to determine when to get out. A neighbor of mine back in the 70's traded this stock and made excellent money numerous times. You just have to have guts. I am long on the stock.
