ATT subsidizes the iPhone at a cost of about $3-400 a phone. They would lose money if they had to pay Apple another subsidy before they made back their money on the current subsidy. That is the reason for the 2 year contract. These aren't Razors folks. I believe most of the outcry though is from people trying to short ATT and AAPL. A contract is a contract. I see they have 11,000 signatures so far. A lot, but out of the millions of iPhone users who are probably already on twitter, it is nothing.
All Jobs wants is compensation for doing an ACTUAL GOOD JOB! It amazes me the publicity this story is getting, when executives who have obliterated their companies and the economy are being "rewarded" just the same or better. Yeah, Steve Jobs is not an accountant, neither is Bill Gates. They are tech geeks. I guess we can count on another "Apple witch hunt" the next few weeks/months.
Apple Wins Over Analysts Following Impressive Q2 Earnings [View article]
This is why I jumped back in in the 80's. Everyone said the market was going down more, but there was way too much upside to miss. Luckily I didn't listen and didn't lose. I am still staying long too, non GAAP revenue is on pace to be over $8. It has the potential to be over $10 next year, but it will take new product releases to achieve that IMHO.
If growth continues, even at a tepid pace, then deferred earnings and revenue will soon combine to produce $10 a share in earnings. Cash may be over $40 billion in about a year. $200 a share may soon be a safe base for the stock. I think this could happen in a little over a year. Earnings tomorrow will give me a clue if I am on the right track. Keep on eye on non GAAP earnings and the amount of deferred earnings in GAAP earnings. I know, I didn't dig out any real numbers for this, so feel free to do so and provide a more accurate depiction.

$1000 a share? Sure, why not! Don't forget about inflation, it will be back. Not to mention the growth from innovation. I am not hoping for MSFT's doom though. Competition will only benefit the consumer, and I am a consumer as well as an investor.
Feet to the Fire: How Analysts Missed on Apple iPhone Shipments [View article]
I guess they figure in a declining economy that they will have to be right eventually. I don't blame them for low balling last quarter though, Apple flat out started that one. While it is understandable that the early trends showed the 10 million iPhone goal out of reach, it was widely known that MANY MANY people were holding out for the 3G version. I believed they would achieve it and they did, but guess what I got for my reward? NADA! Now, this stock is just a waiting game. In a few quarters the deferred revenue will be driving up earnings substantially. Off the top of my head I'll say $6 a share this year, with $2 due for Xmas quarter. 20 million iPhones, Macs up 10%, and this will be the year of the iPod Touch. Don't give me crap, I told ya it was off the top of my head! Just like the analysts haha!

Analysts on Apple: Weakness Is a Buying Opportunity [View article]
At this price it is a pretty safe bet right now. I made some money on riskier stocks so I could buy more Apple. The holidays looks like it did not turn out to be Armageddon for Apple at all. The iPhone shock wave is spreading and even though it is deferred revenue. At this rate it will only take a year to show up in the balance sheets. I can wait that long and will buy more if the market continues to not have faith. Oh and about Steve Jobs? Please, worst case scenario is that he gets the best cancer treatment a man can get, best is the usual crooked market manipulation. Either way Apple has had a plan for life after Steve for quite some time now. It would be tragic for the stock if something happens to him for awhile, but the current management has already had a lot more to do with Apple's success than anybody gives them credit for. Plus anybody who followed Steve Walsh's subordinates would realize the impact a guy like that can have.
Will Apple's Q1 2009 Revenue Estimates Be a Blowout?
The "bear bubble" of 2008! Maybe the analysts are suppressing the price of the stock on purpose until the iPhone revenues take over earnings. When they have billions of dollars in their funds, they can afford to wait until 2010. At that time there will be so much pressure on the stock it just blows up and then "cha ching". They can't keep it down forever. I will be looking forward to your data.

Lead us to the promise land oh great Andy Zaky. These commandments we will obey. No longer shall we worship the golden cow of GOOG and RIMM, the voice in the sky hath spoken.
Seriously, good article, especially about what to do with $110 billion.
Was the iPhone Deal Worth It for AT&T? [View article]
It will not be long for the increased revenue from the iPhone to help ATT. Remember they increased their fee's and that will, over the term of the contract, more than pay for the subsidy. Throw in an excellent dividend and this stock is just as much of a buy as Apple. I just hope they have better customer service than they had in the past.
While it is true, how much of this is factored into the stock price already? The past few quarters have seen an upswing before earnings that beat the market. While AAPL had a few days it beat the market, it overall has been keepig pace. We may see a sell off tomorrow non the less, but this will be the bottom for AAPL if it see's it at all. It will all depend on current quarter earnings, which could be as high as 1.25 or higher, and next quarters estimates, which is really the BIG question mark. Investors should also note that the iPhone a year from now will contribute much much more to earnings along with hopefully a "non recessionary" holiday season... and oh, at least Barron's thinks that this whole recession thing is way overblown.
Is Apple's New MacBook Affordable Enough? [View article]
Considering the new features the new price points are very good. A $700-800 Macbook with the new feature would probably devastate margins. The new frame itself has to make it by far the most durable solid notebook ever and is unlikely to be copied by others, or at least not combined with a price cut. Dell, HP would have to raise prices to do the Macbooks new features. Also, don't be surprised if the 10 mil goal has not been reached by earnings release. Rumors on Apple ALL YEAR, have turned out to be just that!! That's why people sell the news, because it's not news, it's LIES!! EMEI data is intriguing, and I hope it's true, but should be approached with caution.
Apple's iPhones: 10 Million and Counting? [View article]
Apple has been a rebel to the market lately. I am hoping that this is not just a short pop, but perhaps a signal that the bottom is here. I really thought we would finally rally today on the overall market, oil prices falling is VERY GOOD FOR THE CONSUMER! The days not over, hopefully no late freefall, but a late rally. If we freefall today, I am jumping in as a buyer.
