  • Nintendo Dominates April Game Console Market [View article]
Excellent analysis, especially compared to a article here just a few days ago by an "expert" who shall remain nameless, who declared the Wii as not fit for investment. It is about time for those that expected, predicted or hoped for the Wii bubble to pop, to wake up and smell the coffee. It is obvious that Nintendo correctly read the market as being far less concerned about high definition video (witness the disappointing Blu Ray sales) and more interested in accessible gaming without the highly complex controls. They also like new fresh ideas like Wii Fit will should be a major coup. The ongoing domination of the handheld market by the DS, another gaming devise that "experts" dismissed as not being able to compete with the SONY Play Station Portable should tell us that Miyamoto and Nintendo know exactly what they are doing.
Nintendo has only made a few miscues like the GameCube, which never could catch up to the wildly successful PS2; but it is obvious now that they understand the market far better than their competition, or the majority of trade watchers, who they constantly embarrass. Developers are getting the message and investors should also. This is NO FAD.

  • 4 Reasons Why Wii Ought to Anticipate a Price Cut [View article]
If you were not convinced by the comments you received, I hope you were by the NPD numbers for April. You are living in a fantasy land, which is fine, but please don't write fantasy articles which mislead investors.
In other words, to paraphrase an ad slogan that goes with your much beloved but badly faltering PS3, Live in your world, write in our world.

  • Video Game Industry: One of the Most Attractive Areas to Invest [View article]
Any so called expert who claimed that the consumer was frightened off the Wii would have an extremely difficult time explaining the NPD numbers that were announced almost immediately after the publication of your ludicrous column. Your understanding of the current video game market is so completely wrong, I think you should seriously consider early retirement.

It is sad to see that someone who purports to be dispensing reliable information on which people are to make important financial decisions can be so misinformed and biased. Your ignorance about the Nintendo Wii is shocking. The fact that it set all time sale records despite the release of its competition’s biggest game should tell you that consumers know that the Wii in fact represents the future even if you don’t.
The misconception that you can’t sell third party software is based on the fact that most developers, possibly relying on unreliable information from someone like you, have tried to use their third string teams to port over games designed for other systems. The Wii is revolutionary and unique and to succeed, games will need to be developed by top notch teams who understand the control system and its special abilities. The Wii version of Guitar Hero III outsold the other platforms in large part because it uses a unique controller negating the issue of control design. But it also clearly demonstrates that the Wii represents a huge and rapidly growing market. To advise developers to ignore it is to tell them to not tap into to the biggest opportunity there is.
