Too Big to Fail, or Too Metastatized? [View article]
GM is one huge operation that is very labor intense. The failure of such a large operation would wreck havoc with the economy through failed debt on mortages, credit card debit and auto loan debt not to mention the unemployment status which is already at a major peak. As far as making a statement that GM failed to manage; It's more like our Private Financial sector failed to manage. Just maybe a little regulation will help.
GM has a brilliant CEO who not only has to manage US operations but now also a Global Operation. What is a fair salary for that kind of responsibility when you as a CEO have no control over an energy policy, currency exchanges, bank financial failure and Foreign Politics operating in the US for trade agreements in their favor?
GM can't fail it's a major part of our economy. Put some regulation in place to control the Banks and get affordable Capital back to business.
General Motors: The Next Delisting from the Dow? [View article]
Politics on Wall Street is playing a game. GM is America's answer to Japan's Toyota in the Global Auto Market. You kill GM and you kill America's chance to compete in the Global Auto Market. You have to remember Toyota sells itself as American but all the profits from their sales returns to Japan. As far as bashing the UAW for the culperts. I suggest you blame some very unfair trade agreements, uncontolled Health Care Costs and irreresponsible government leadership for unfair Trade Competition in OUR ECONOMY. GM adds more to America's economy than many other Foreign or American Companies. As far as the Quality arguement. I'll put GM, Ford and Chrysler up against any Foreign competitior and win. These Icons helped build America along with a Quality American Workforce. The Foreign Competition didn't contribute to the building of America. Stockholders are due their return but the American worker deserves a fair shake for making those returns after all American's are stockholders and workers.
Dan:......I liked your web site......You have a view of the generalities of the world that are intertwinded and will lead you to success.......Good luck.
Two Hundred and Sixty Six Thousand and all the jobs they support.....Approximat... 12 times that many related to GM's Auto and Truck Industry........Huge loss America will not let happen.........Add Ford and Chrysler and the jobs they support and you have an economic catastrophy in the making.......Have a great 4th. Dan....
What no comment?....Actually I really think from what the politicians are preaching is GM won't need a bailout.......but if push comes to shove......Guess what GM is an American Icon in the World Market and Uncle Sam did have a hand in having them defend American Market Share in America against some very unlevel fields of play. Do the American Politicians and average Americans have a conscience? I think so....
Dan: You have a foresite many wish to have. Your on the money with GM. I'll follow your forecast.
It's a tough World Market out there. Most American's don't understand the World Auto Market. You my friend see it like it is. GM is an American Company competing with the World in it's home Market. If American's can't realize this Uncle Sam will teach them.
America is still America even if some think Foreign is American.
GM Should Tumble on Merrill's Pessimism [View article]
Just another broker bidding on sales. In any market there is the sell and the buy and the in-between...GM is a buy at this price and when the Dow as a whole starts it's rise watch GM. GM is a long term investment just as the DOW as a whole is today. S&P 500 doesn't have any real monentum in a down economic forecast.
Is the Chevy Cobalt as Good as a Hybrid? [View article]
Cobalt is the alternative to a hybrid........It's still a gas saver for the average Joe.........Most people don't have money to burn on expensive Hybrids like the Prius..........Your American dallars ahead with the Cobalt.........America... dollars turn to Japanese Yen with the Prius......Prius is Green Taking Green.......
The whole market is in turmoil. Lets not blame two companies for mistakes. Seems the only market today is energy and it can't seem to hold a lead in any one sector and it effects all other forms of market gain and our economy. I say hold on. This constant struggle of the market has to end soon. Possibly after election when some needed changes will take place.
If you look at the market as a whole it is in terrible disaray. Nothing seems to be working properly. Time for a change in economic and trade policy.
Oil has hurt every aspect of our economy and will continue to untill someone in government makes a decision on what our next energy source will be. It is going to take a commitment to an alternative source of energy to fix the energy problem which will in turn fix our Economy and Markets.
Rough times have come and gone for all the above companies and America. We can blame managment or we can blame politicians. Both need to get in-line with what is happening in the World. If American Companies are to survive America needs to slow the amount of one way trade to this country. It's all about balance and there is no balance in our trade or economic situation right now.
We as citizens need to take more responsibility for what we purchase today because Big Business and Government aren't.
New Fuel Rules Favor Detroit Automakers [View article]
Any move to boost the Detroit 3 will be good for them and America......This free market thing isn't all free.......seems some Foreign Companies take advantage of Our Free Economy while protecting theirs......It will be good to see American Auto Companies in the lead at home again.......We need to tighten up just a little to make things level for American Companies in all areas.
