  • Groupon's Achilles' Heel: Blue Calypso's Patents [View article]
I find it odd when you call groupon risky but then go on to reveal you are long their sue-happy rival, a bulletin stock...a bulletin-stock? You think thats less risky? try taking a look at them first....so why should you tell investors to stay away from groupon cause its risky when you are clearly making much more risky plays

please also provide any recent evidence where patent wars have materially affected the long term performance of a major-exchange listed company...we all know these end up amounting to nothing

  • Groupon Has Been A Surprise Gainer This Year, But Will The Rally Continue? [View article]
the cost of everything just to live is going up, by the time I get to work in the morning I've already spent up to $10 on a newspaper/bagel/coffee. My subway monthly commute jumped from $104 to $112. The winter is coming and my rising heat bill isn't going to pay itself.

These are just a few small examples of why everyone will be relying on groupon...especially with the holidays in December groupon will be the go-to. Now that my cost of living is rising, along with most others, I have less to spend on gifts. So if I see those headphones on amazon I want to get for my brother for Christmas, I'm certainly checking groupon first for a lesser price, or an alternative for a lesser price.

    Go on Groupon!!!

  • Groupon Has Been A Surprise Gainer This Year, But Will The Rally Continue? [View article]
    1. Groupon was not a "surprise" gainer this year and anybody who did their proper research after it fell to 2.70 would be able to tell you that it was a screaming buy and still is

    2. Whats wrong with that forward p/e? Plenty of other growth companies like tsla and lnkd are much higher forward p/e, and groupon is well in line with its sector. Plus i personally think tsla and lnkd are jokes. Take a look at amzn forward p/e as well.

Increasing competition? Never heard that one before...nice try. You are not looking well enough into the big picture. Get in line with the rest of the seeking alpha pessimists who have been wrong and be prepared to say "whooops shouldnt have written this" in the next 18 months....only reason for groupon to go lower is if theres a market correction where in that case everything would fall...but up up and up in the long run regardless.

  • Why Groupon Might Struggle To Justify Any Further Increase In Its Share Price [View article]
hows everyone feeling about earnings? if they miss there are still upside catalysts...they still need to announce a new CEO and if they were bad enough the stock might still receive a lot of support cause it might indicate lefkofsky will want to sell the company and i could see google or amazon wanting to make a play at them....good earnings and the sky is the limit! lots more possible upside than downside id say

  • Why Groupon Might Struggle To Justify Any Further Increase In Its Share Price [View article]
"Why Groupon Might Struggle To Justify Any Further Increase In Its Share Price"

again, any groupon bear please explain if this headline is the case, then why do so many institutions and insiders own the shares (go on short squeeze dot com and enter "grpn", you will see what I am talking about)...is smart money now dumb money?

    Major Holders (share ownership totals)
    NEA Management: 87.5mm
    Tiger Global: 65mm
    Morgan Stanely: 55.9mm
    Price T Rowe: 22.7mm
    Jana: 22mm
    (source: nasdaq dot com)

so these institutions are all wrong? but you retailers know exactly what youre talking about?

Since $2.70 I have been screaming for anybody to tell me why groupon truly is a sell, and nobody can provide a legitimate reason except for the same recycled bashing we here on groupon on a consistent basis. Go ahead, sell your shares, it seems to me that the institutions love when fools do that

all the hearsay that vendors are "losing money" is a bunch of nonsense created by people with no backup for that observation

what do you say when you look at the institutional ownership of outstanding shares...all the fool retailers scared themselves end of last year and have sold groupon to the point where it is over 63% institution owned and 36% insider owned...doesnt that tell you the smart money likes groupon? follow the smart money

  • Apple's Earnings: What To Expect [View article]
yes they beat, my arugment is aapl would have been down a lot more than its up today if they missed, i did not say they were going to miss

plus there are a lot of holes in earnings...this run up seems temporary to me...downside is still there, aapl stock has not established a floor

  • Apple Inc.: Slightly Disappointed, But More Hopeful [View article]
if the market wants to assign around a 10 p/e to this stock then its really not worth as high as it is...im very surprised its up as much as it is today especially with a trend of declining earnings beginning to set the stage...

their declared dividend seems to me to be admitting that they can no longer grow

the problem is, unlike established blue chips, apple has to keep coming up with new innovative ideas consistently which will slow (and has been showing signs of slowing)....a new "innovative" ipad because it has a bigger screen and retina display? cmon now, who really is going to put down their current ipad for a new one, there is nothing much more "innovative" you can do with that...it seems all apple is innovating is bigger screens on their products...big freakin deal

im sure everyone is going to be thrilled to throw away their rolex's for the rumored "iwatch". who really wears watches anymore to keep time anyway, watches are just a fashion statement today

and the tv idea...its already being done elsewhere, apple is late to the party on the tv...in europe there are tv's being created that look like a thin piece of clear glass and nothing more...

stay away from this headwreck for now, im a buyer at $300

potential concern: declining expectations of apple, i think if they miss it will be dreadful

    positives: blue chip p/e

despite the run down from $700 i still think there is more downside than upside at the moment and a miss will be much more exaggerated than a beat...i say stay away from this emotional train wreck until the dust settles

  • Is It Time To Take Profits In Yahoo? [View article]
But do you really think these are smart acquisitions? I have yet to see anything social media related that has turned out to work well, facebook has been the best and they are barely profitable and losing users as we speak, so why is Yahoo trying to show up late to the party and acquire social media companies?

They went from Alibaba to this? they should be ashamed of themselves. Jerry Yang grabbing Alibaba was smart, the rest of this after the Yang era is all smoke and mirrors. There is no purpose to all these efforts when their target audience for these acquisitions has little or no money...such as tumblr the internet porn spam filled graffiti wall. Plus, they probably should have held alibaba a little longer, again human impatience steps in and kills a bud that hasnt had enough time to flower

my analogy: Youre in college and need a job...would you rather be a waiter at Applebees or at a five star steak restaurant? obviously youre going to get the better tips at the steakhouse and be putting in about the same amount of effort...but for some reason Yahoo would rather work at applebees

Welcome my friends to Internet Bubble 2.0

I loved Yahoo last two years, hate it this year. Mayer's Ailibaba accomplishment has none other than Jerry Yang to thank. Jerry Yang was right for Yahoo and he was right to turn down Microsoft's offer. Unfortunately he was forced out due to typical human impatience. Once Alibaba IPO settles then yahoo has nothing else to look forward to except for silly ideas like "tumblr" marketed to kids with no wallets.

  • Groupon - Any Room Left In This Deal? [View article]
looks like you should've put your studying down and bought groupon at 5...doesnt take a cfa to know that this stock is still a screaming buy.

grouponworks dot com and begin your research from there, don't ruin your credibility like 90% of the bashers on SA did when they kept insulting groupon from $2.60 to where it is now.
