i feel the need to point out one thing to johngonole, when was the last time you saw a gas station with a no gas sign? the oil shortage is not really a shortage, it is part of the run-up on commodities that the article is pointing out.

the question i have as related to this article is does GDP include gas/oil/food sales? if so of course gdp is going up, gas/oil/food are climbing at an incredible rate so for GDP to climb .6% is kind of funny in a very bad way. just a thought, anyone got the answer?
