  • Buy, Sell, or Hold Fertilizer Stocks: Agriculture Bust (Part II) [View article]
This reminds me of the sell off in tech earlier this year when the likes of Intel and Apple reported record earnings but got sold anyway. Everything is seanonal. There's not the same amount of money in the market so the money rotation now is more obvious than ever. Even if there might be some fundemental changes to these companies, which I don't think there is, it just doesn't change overnight like the stocks are behaving. Don't panic and try to insert some fundamental reasons to the sell off. This is pure money shifting from one sector to others. The fundementals and earning power of these ag are still intact. If you have cash, buy incrementally in on the dip and stay long. Unless the companies come out with bad earnings themselves, nothing has change.

  • Potash Corp., Agrium Caught in Industry-Wide Downturn [View article]
There's simply too many retail traders hanging in the ag sector. The story is too easy. Hedge funds know this so they are trying to shake the share renters. This sector is in the hole for a while. Better brace for some pain but the worst thing you can do is sell.

  • Casino Stocks Scream Value Play [View article]
What a rediculous assessment. These are value traps just like the banks. They are all too heavily leveraged with excess capacity and high overhead cost in a dwindling market. The interests on their loans are eating into their cash flow(listen to LVS conference) faster than their cost cutting efforts. Furthermore airlines are cutting back their flights to Vegas because of high oil prices which result in high air fares which further influence the spending by peoplewho actually go to Vegas.
As for Macau, the Chinese goverment have more incentive to help Chinese casinos then US because of one simple fundamental reason, they are Chinese owned and their profit will stay in China as oppose the the US casinos. A good comparison is the Chinese auto industry. They will get US companies to invest in their countries just to learn then they will copy the operations and undercut the price.

  • Looking for a Cause for Thursday's Sell-off? Blame Greenspan [View article]
Greenspan could have been more stern with the banks because he knew we were heading into a bubble. It was his policy to let the bubble run its course that got us here. Now the bubble is too big and wide spread for us to have a quick recovery. Thats really bad judgement on his part.

  • Jobs' Health Is a Matter of Public Interest, Whether Apple Likes It or Not [View article]
What if S Jobs told the public he had to have a routine operation before he did and then came out of it fine? How big a difference is that compare to now? Not much...So the issue is not whether his health is a public concern because if the operation was life threatening that rendered him unable to perform his duty as a CEO, then shareholders should know about it.

What the some of the press insist on that is outrageous is S Jobs discloses everything about his health or better yet his entire health record and maybe his doctors' credentials as well. Not even George W Bush deserves this kind of scrutiny. But I think that the media knows this...I think you know that there is no news here.

The fact of the matter is that some Apple investors are too emotional and quick to react to any negative implications about Apple or S Jobs plays right into your hand. No other company in the world provoke such hatred and love more than Apple. We need to ask ourselves why is that....

  • Buy Opportunity in Gaming Stocks: Reduced Targets, Easier Comparables  [View article]
The p/e on LVS is insanely expensive even at this beaten-up level. If you're a value investor and have patience you'd be wise to stay away from these stocks.
