Low pinksheet volume is really not much of a drawback for your average investor. I use Etrade and have half my shares on the TSE and half on the pinksheets where I've bought and sold at least a dozen times. Now that the U.S. and Canadian dollars are equal, I have noted that bid ask info for wpivf is the same as on the TSE except they add a couple pennies to the spread. I have never had a problem. A buy order does not get executed until the ask displayed moves down to my bid. But one can always buy at the ask or sell at the bid.
