  • Continental Resources Has Additional Near-Term Upside [View article]
I agree with your views. However, I decided to pull my investment in CLR, but let my profit run. I have a concentrated portfolio. Heavy in oil. I put stop-losses on the oils, except for a large holding in SDRL. I'll ride out any declines, for that dividend! I'm expecting a cooling down in Iraq and a drop in the oil stocks when it happens. My largest holding and favorite stock remains EOG!

If you haven't, already, check out Frederickson's(sp) background and # of shares owned. Talk about a dividend check ! Also, see how many other companies SDRL has a financial interest in. Quite a company with quite a future. First bought July, 2010.

  • Oil production in Texas’ Eagle Ford shale formation jumped 54% Y/Y in April; the nine fields that make up the majority of Eagle Ford yielded ~530K bbl/day of crude, after February output was revised higher by ~6%. EOG Resources (EOG) is the largest Eagle Ford leaseholder, with 639K net acres, and Chesapeake (CHK) is next with 485K. [View news story]
Better they run out of water than oil.
They can always bring in all the water they need.

    Appreciate the article.
With regards to MLPs within an IRA acccount, I think you are saying that the first $1000 rec'd is tax-free (presently). Correct?
    Thanks.

  • Retirement Strategy - When The Risks Are Greater Than The Rewards [View article]
I began buying NLY, Agnc and MTGE in 2011. So, I've had a good run.
I sold out in Aug. of this year, when they took a hit for a couple of days and I could find no info as to why. Got back in . I'm retired and have to sell first and ask questions later, when a stock starts dropping.
I read your artical on Aug. 7. Thought it over and sold out when the market opeded Aug.8. Still made a nice profit. But, partially thanks to your arttcle, I saved $9000, as of Fridays' close. And still have those nice dividend checks hitting soon.
    Thanks for the writing!

  • The Seadrill Conundrum [View article]
I first bought SDRL in July, 2010 when the dividend was $1.73 for an 8% yield. It's 13.5 % of my portfoliio, where it will remain. I've taken all dividends in cash.

I'd suggest a re-reading of some of the older articles in Yahoo for a very good background and understanding of why this is such a good stock to buy/keep. Look at how much of the co. is owned by Mr.F. He likes dividends, too! Look at the other companies that SDRL owns portions of. You are buying an interest in them too.

Better to borrow at these low rates, rather than dilute the shareholders with continuous new issues of stock, in my opinion.

Re. your lack of anything good to say about AGNC and your praise of NLY:
Check the stock performance of NLY vs AGNC for:
    1 mo. 3mo. 6mo. YTD 1 yr 3 yr 5yr

I guess performance doesn't count for anything.

  • Stay Away From Windstream's 9% Downside And Consider Peers Instead [View article]
Have made 22 Buys, No Sells of Win Sept. 2009- Nov. 2011.
    Without re-investing dividends.
Have enough shares that I may cash in 1/2, with the intent of re-buying,
after a market correction that I believe we are on the verge of having.
    Will decide after x-div.

  • Stay Away From Windstream's 9% Downside And Consider Peers Instead [View article]
Have been accumulating Win since Sept. 2009.
Have seen management interviewed quite a few times.
They have always followed through with statements made,
including the safety of the dividend. They are expanding in the right areas for the future. Taking advantage of all gov't. subsidies, etc.
    I am not a seller!

  • Wynn Poised To Grow, Outperform Competitors [View article]
    And a $5 special dividend in 2011.
I have Wynn, LVS and Galexy. Got out of Melco.
LVS has another one opening up very soon in Macau.
Wynn's fight with the Japanese guy won't help him to expand in Japan.
The guy is very influential there.
I'll bet that LVS gets the first concession in Japan. At least, the 1st non-Japanese company concession. Maybe a partnership?
Whatever, I'll bet that LVS gets there first.
