  • Volatility ETFs Could Face A Short Squeeze [View article]
correct me if I'm wrong, but these products trade off of the underlying VIX contract and not on the inflows/outflows into the ETF. So even if all those people that are short VXX cover their positions, that doesn't result in a short-squeeze. If I'm reading this correctly, you're just hoping for a market correction that would cause volatility to spike - that's not a short squeeze. Also, you should look into contango of the VIX futures. VXX is not a product you want to be long for very long due to the roll decay

Slight margin compression and slowly revenue growth does not a broken company make.

  • Celsion: 50% Downside After The HEAT Trial Failed [View article]
Well what do you know...THIS is the guy that wrote the article on UNXL. At that time he was writing his articles under an actual name, but since changed it after the Company threatened litigation. This guy is a total fraud and this stock should easily bounce off these lows once people stop panic selling off one article with not one shred of proof or evidence. He sites the same vague sources in his previous article. Really contemplating a purchase now that I know who's writing it. May follow this guy in the future just to buy off of his fraudulent claims.

Agreed. Redacre I could care less if you're long or short but don't say you're long and then provide only bearish analysis in your comments. I highly doubt an investor that is Long in $IMUC would be talking about management misleading investors. Own up to your real position

  • Best Ideas For 2014: Long GCVRZ [View article]
I was thinking the same thing Clayton. Although the article made a compelling argument for a reason to buy ahead of the FDA decision, a "best pick for 2014" should technically start tomorrow. I sympathize with those that bought prior to the 65% drop, but such is the case of playing with stocks prior to an FDA approval. Blaming Chris that one part of his overall thesis didn't play out, and 52 weeks prior to actually realizing the performance of his 2014 pick, is very off base in my opinion.

I have made multiple trading decisions that have cost me plenty, but the best thing to do is learn from it and re-evaluate the position (not blame others that you made it in the first place). As far as I know, Chris didn't force anyone to make the purchase or bought it on their behalf. I think if you believed in the overall thesis before it dropped, now is an even more compelling valuation and I entered a position after the drop.

Hopefully Chris will give us his update soon. Good luck to everyone and Happy New Year

  • How UVXY And SVXY Would Have Reacted In 2008 And 2011 [View article]
    Nathan,
Since you can't predict when the inevitable crash will ultimately occur, wouldn't it make more sense to buy SVXY/XIV after a huge volatility spike after something like we saw in 2008 and 2011? I believe that way your downside on the short volatility products would be somewhat limited. What are your thoughts?

Correct me if I'm wrong but at first glance their "earnings" look pretty good. $0.00 per share vs expectations of $0.08/share, less cash burn than last year, etc.

Is that how you'd interpret it?

Same with UNXL. Article last week on SA seemed fabricated and they have begun the litigation process for libel damages. I bought after the panic selling and held for a day and made ~13%

  • Volatility ETFs Could Face A Short Squeeze [View article]
Rubenov has me covered. Completely different from what you're referring to Larry, but when the issuing bank/securities firm stops issuing the ETN, the price of the ETN may begin to trade at significant premiums to the assets NAV (see Arshok's comment about about using Yahoo Finance to check the NAVs). Actually what happened is CS stopped issuing the shares, the premium of ETN to NAV jumped to over 100%, and then CS announced they would issue shares again in a limited capacity, dropping the ETN price to the NAV.

Then are plenty of well written articles about volatility products on seekingalpha. I would encourage you to read them before the roll decay eats away your position while you wait for a short squeeze to come to fruition.
