  • Who Will Win the Home Entertainment Battle? [View article]
Lots of harsh comments before me, but some might have merit: You observe that some might not want to pay $12.95/month OR $400/lifetime but expect a regular Joe (or my kids grandparents) to have an X-Box?

While MSFT just might have some winners and AAPL might have missed the boat a bit, the only sure winner I see is NFLX. They have a service that works now and is evolving into whatever consumers want it to become - as far as video (no games). The customer determines how much they want to pay/month, how franticly they want to watch/return the DVD's, and they still have the "Watch Now" going for them. It's almost like NFLX is anxious for the day when nobody gets any DVD's in the mail - everything is streamed. Me, too!

    Disclosure: Long NFLX

  • Netflix User Statistics: Reading Between the Numbers [View article]
This is cool stuff! How did I not hear about it before this? I'm heading over to that site right after I post this - and signing up. I've tried to do some of those personal calc's myself and it will be interesting to see how my "back of the envelope" numbers compare to theirs.

    Thanks for the interesting info.

  • Netflix's Roku is Doomed to Fail [View article]
I'm a happy NFLX member. On days like today, when I've only got one dvd at home (kid's movie that I don't want to watch again), I can choose from tons of movie & shows (granted, not new releases) that are worth watching. Now, I watch 'em by myself, on the laptop. But, with a box (and we are a Playstation family, not Xbox) we could have the whole family watching fav's or classic's.

For me, $100 is cheap enough.
