  • Pres. Obama's re-election doesn't bode well for the odds of a tax holiday on overseas cash, notes Eric Savitz. That's problematic for large-cap tech names such as Apple (AAPL), Microsoft (MSFT), and Cisco (CSCO), which respectively have $83B, $54B, and $42.5B stashed overseas (per their most recent financials). As Savitz observes, there's a good chance some of that cash will be used on foreign acquisitions, especially in light of recent deals such as Microsoft/Skype and Cisco/NDS. [View news story]
Oh please.... why do O supporters always pull the race card! What about 93% of blacks voting for O- if that isn't racist, I don't know what is!

  • Tesco Buys E-Bookseller Mobcast For $7.2 Million [View article]
Hahaha. I originally meant to buy the retailer and ended up with the oil driller..... Now I own both, which is why I caught the mistake.

  • Tesco Buys E-Bookseller Mobcast For $7.2 Million [View article]
Isn't this supposed to be TSCDY (Tesco PLC) the UK retailer, and not TESO (TESCO Corp), which provides technology-based solutions for the upstream energy industry?

  • Vivus Looks Into European Approval As Company Pins Hopes On Qsymia [View article]
Yes, personal in that I personally experienced topiramate's side effects. I also have spoken to others who have experienced "brain fog" while on topiramate- including one young girl who was unable to keep up in her AP math classes while taking it for seizures. Maybe such a side effect would not be as problematic for everyone, but my profession requires me to be analytical and detail-oriented, so for me the decision to stop taking it was a no-brainer (pun intended.)

  • Express Scripts: Just What The Doctor Ordered [View article]
Completely agree from a patient perspective- they sent me three months of the generic even though my doctor had prescribed the name brand, because the doctor did not sign the form on a specific line. The generic makes me dizzy, but ESRX refused to send me the name brand. I paid hundreds of dollars for the next three months of prescriptions and cancelled my account with ESRX. I still own a small amount of the stock, but am constantly thinking of selling it. The information about unhappy employees concerns me a lot.

  • Prospects Are Bright For Verizon [View article]
In my experience Verizon's coverage is MUCH better than AT&T's. My husband has had a Verizon iPhone for a couple years and wherever we travel he often gets service when I cannot. As a result, I just switched from AT&T (which I have had since the first iPhone) to Verizon. Many of my friends have also switched. My neighbor paid early termination fees to switch his family's six iPhones to Verizon. Since switching I have had no dropped calls nor have I experienced dead spots. AT&T may have been more innovative in the past, but perhaps Verizon has caught on.

  • 10 Stocks For 2013 [View article]
    To clarify the TESO-TSCDY confusion:

"Tesco Corporation [TESO] is engaged in the designing, manufacturing and service delivery of technology-based solutions for the upstream energy industry. The Company's product and service include equipment sales and services to drilling contractors and oil and gas operating companies. . . . Tesco Corporation is headquartered in Houston, Texas."

"TESCO PLC. [TSCDY] is the UK's largest retailer and one of the world's leading international retailers." It is also correct that TSCDY owns the U.S. based Fresh & Easy markets, which it is considering selling.

I am not familiar with the BC company Taseko.

    DanoX-
"asking a black person to vote for a modern Republican (after 1920) is like a Jewish person voting for a Nazis." ?????

I am stunned you would equate the two- as far as I know Republicans (especially "after 1920") did not engage in the wholesale slaughter of hundreds of thousands of blacks. I do not deny there are still people prejudiced against blacks (and Muslims, gays, Mexicans, Jews, the list goes on....), but you are wrong if you think everyone that didn't vote for Obama did so because he is black.

In any event, I believe the Republican party will need to change its stance on social issues or die. The only reason I did not vote for Obama is because I don't think he knows what he is doing with the economy. That's it.

  • Thoughts on Select Fresh & Easy Locations Being Closed [View article]
I also love Fresh & Easy. The meat and seafood is generally fresh, not pre-frozen, and it is so easy to get in and out of the store. It also has fresh uncooked prepared meals.

  • Vivus Is Cheaper Than Arena [View article]
Technically, the discussion is not "moot" (when used in the sense of "having no practical significance or relevance"); Vivus/Qsymia has only been given a head start, which, if the predictions of its demise are true, will only hasten its demise.

Personally, I believe in most cases Qsymia's negative side effects will overwhelm any potential benefits. However, some Qsymia supporters seem to have an almost evangelical belief in its potential to dominate the anti-obesity market, which makes any attempt at rational discussion somewhat futile.
