  • MLPs: GP / LP Relationship Is Key [View article]
What about MTP? Is this a true ETF in the MLP area? If so, could it be useful instead of woning MLPs themselves.

  • ETFConnect Is No More [View article]
Not only did they drop ETF coverage, but they took a valuable one page site and made it totally user unfriendly. It is now very difficult to obtain information without going to several steps. It is now quite useless.

Sorry, I goofed. The correct symbol for the ETF is MTP, and not MPT.

Sorry, I goofed. The ETF symbol for the limited master partnerships is MTP, and not MPT. Sorry.

There are two good ETFs in place: PCY and EMB. I haven't studied closed end funds much, but two which I own are MSD and GHI. Scoots

  • Potash CEO: The Best is Yet to Come [View article]
It is hard to imagine market or external events which could derail the feretilizer express, except for occasional pullbacks, even a couple of severe ones if the market itself collapses. However, I have an unvoiced, until recently, fear--collective national action to freeze fertilizer prices or contol their rate of increase. The world community will not put up with prices which threaten world hunger. Also, don't be suprised if the UN doesn't employ "moral suasion" to hold prices down.

  • Six Profit Plays Amidst Soaring Oil and Zooming Inflation [View article]
I agree with GMiki. Go long, especially with KOL. the excellent coal ETF. Try MOO, again an excellent, ETF, for the agricultural area, or buy a basket of fertilizer stocks (POT, CF, MOS, and AGU), along with agricultural based DBA and RJA. Finally, water is tough to play. The ETF doesn't offer much. But consider the Brazilian company SBS for a water and waste water play.

  • Coal Stocks Show Potential for Future Gains [View article]
It is difficult to select the one or two best performing companies in the coal industry. Therefore, strongly consider the ETF KOL which has performed admirably. It has a very broad base of companies.

  • It's Not Too Late to Buy Coal [View article]
Instwead of struggling to select indicdual coal stocks or related wequities, I would strongly suggest the ETF KOL. This holding gives excellent diversification and has somewhat less volitility than some of the stocks in this area.

  • It's Not Too Late to Buy Coal [View article]
Instead of trying to select different stocks, I would strongly suggest the ETF KOL. It has a broad variety of holdings. The diversification in this area is important.

In terms of selecting the "right" companies, this is extremely problematic. Buy either IEO or XOP for more peace of mind.

BTE has been a monster performer. Buy 40% BTE and continue the ride for a while, and split the rext among PWE, ERX, and PVX to balace the risk.
