U.S. Mint Makes Drastic Cuts to Its Collector Gold and Platinum Coin Offerings

Why doesn't the Mint just ask Congress to change the rule and allow them to sell at market prices? Sounds like the intelligent thing to go. Oh, yeah, I forget, this is the U.S. government.
