  • The Fed Saga Will Continue, But Annaly Capital Could See An 18% Increase [View article]
Well, they said they'd taper another 10 big ones. So, after the dust settles, will Mr Market decide the Fed is wise and thus the economy is improving, or the Fed is clueless and the economy is tanking? I suspect "clueless" for a day (so today or tomorrow is a reasonable time to get some NLY, DX, MFA, etc. as the prices malinger) and then "wise." 401k money will be coming into the market soon too. Just my 2 cents. Picked up some WSR & T today too.

  • Coca-Cola Yields 3% And Everyone Should Know It [View article]
I use "Initial YOC" - what it was at the time of purchase. Yield at Purchase is likewise self-explanatory to me. I view it as "what I expect to receive" for the ensuing year and I do record it at time of purchase and then check it against the dividend announcements.

  • Why We Are Not OK And Not On A Sustainable Trajectory [View article]
Superb clarity, JS. IMO, the "black swan" tipping point event will occur when it becomes evident the middle class is no longer able to support the economy & gov't programs. I'm not sure how this point will reveal itself, nor if gov't action will delay or even prevent it (via austerity among all the "beggar thy neighbor" nations, perhaps.) To some, the markets may appear to be "teetering" at a high today. However, IMO, they will double, triple or quadruple from here before the tipping point is reached. So, I think 2014 will be "good" to traders/investors (with a ~10% correction in Q2/Q3) and I plan to stay in the market this year.

Thanks for the article. I've followed AKAM for years... well-run company vs the competition. But I wonder if AT&T will make an acquisition too. Any thoughts?

If my memory is correct... Jack Dangermond (ESRI founder) used to say, "When you see where, you'll understand why." Properly implemented, iBeacon-related location-based capabilities looks like another great integrated differentiator.

Thanks cpa.. I agree. I just don't think ENR has a major problem, just a different strategy that can also be successful. Happy investing and thanks for commenting back.

  • Can Energizer Holdings Energize Your Holdings? [View article]
Looks like they're doing so successfully. I look at (&prefer) ENR's FreeCashFlow/Enterpris... ratio better than PG's. Seems institutional investors like ENR too... 89% for ENR to 34% for PG (per yahoo). Disclosure: no position in either at this time.

Thanks FGs for article emphasizing cash flows.

  • I'm Dumping Shares In HCP And Hiring Debra Instead [View article]
While I have no dog in this hunt at the moment, I don't see JLL as a "brokerage network" (as you describe it) but more of a property mgmt firm, with an internal investment mgmt team that is quite good. How much involvement Lauralee had with the investment part of the operation is an unknown to me, so I think the market is merely saying that she will have to prove herself. Hard to know the facts behind the change, but business issues may not have been the real reason. I think HCP is a buying opportunity here. Appreciate your articles, Brad.

All will be well soon. The G20 & IMF will freeze forex rates, the new world order will be in control with BO, Putin & Kim Jong-un running it as a troika (b/c each has such great ideas), and the debt of all nations will be cancelled, leading the way to a new monetary system based on beads. China will be upset with the loss of its foreign investments but proceed with world domination efforts as before, relying on taxes on sales of iPhones and GM cars. Carpe diem!

  • AT&T's Pension Plastic Surgery: Bad For Pensioners, Worse For Shareholders [View article]
Congrats on 1st article. Call me cynical, but I expect more and more companies to "solve" their pension issues in similar ways, and I wonder if municipalities will come up with a scheme as well.
