suggestions: use dual metering (i.e. your water heater & hot tub (spa) on one meter circuit (these are things where thermal storage is built in) & your room lighting & other essentials on the normal meter circuit. dominion virginia power did this on a consumer-test basis in 1994 but discontinued the experiment. if you insist on using your water heater/hot tub during peak demand hours you get to pay a higher rate per kwh for the units on that circuit. you get an indicator light on your control panel to notify you that you are in the peak zone.

nuclear utilities - nukes like to operate base load & not have cycling loads imposed. pump water storage, a means of peak shaving which is in use in various places where geography is suitable. electrolysis/hydrogen storage, you can use nighttime low-load demand power to make h2 which you burn off in a combustion turbine/combined cycle unit the next day. run your H2 powered vehicle with it too if you have one.
